Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman has made the heartbreaking decision to end his life – but viewers reckon they know who will help him.

Coronation Street fans reckon an unlikely resident will help Paul Foreman end his life.

The character, played by Peter Ash, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) last year. In recent months, he has been struggling more with speech and has required round-the-clock care.

And on Friday (July 26) the soap aired a special episode dedicated to him that showed viewers the reality of living with the devastating MND. The instalment focused entirely on a day in the life of Paul and husband Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) enjoying a special day together.

After being told it is no longer safe for Paul to use the stairlift to leave the flat, Billy took Paul out one last time and visited special places to them, including the church where they tied the knot. The pair also headed to the Rovers for a drink with their pals, including Todd Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).

However, during the emotional instalment, Paul made a huge decision about ending his life: he wanted to end it on that day – something that Todd was quick to pick up on.

Later on, and using his tablet, Paul informed husband Billy that he wanted to end his life. Heartbroken, Billy refused at first – but then agreed to go ahead with the plan.

However, their plan was disrupted after Chesney (Sam Aston) called round following a family emergency. Due to one of his kids suffering an accident, he needed Billy and Paul to look after his other children for the night.

The uncles agreed, and the children slept over, halting Paul’s plan to end his life. The morning after though, Paul revealed he didn’t want to go through with the plan just yet – giving him and Billy more time together.

However, fans now reckon that when the time comes, it won’t be Billy who will help Paul sadly end his life. On social media, viewers reckon it could be Todd, instead.

Writing on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person mused: “Anyone else think Todd will be the one to set Paul free?”

Someone else replied: “I think he will.” A third proclaimed: “ABSOLUTELY 100%.” Another chimed in and said: “I hope so, Billy would be left feeling too much hurt.”

A fifth wrote: “I think he will, to save Billy not being able to live with himself.” A sixth penned: “Yes! Yes! Yes!”
