Coronation Street fans fear that Gail Platt has already left the cobbles as they spot the major character’s absence during recent episodes

Coronation Street fans were left puzzled as Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), dashed off to Turkey following her daughter Bethany’s (Lucy Fallon) disastrous surgery.

In the episode aired on Wednesday night, ITV audiences saw Sarah’s family in Weatherfield taking care of her son Harry amidst the crisis.

Yet, during a conversation between David Platt (Jack Shepherd) and Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), viewers noted the absence of Gail Platt (Helen Worth).

This sparked a flurry of tweets from fans speculating about Gail’s whereabouts. The speculation comes amid news that Helen Worth is set to exit the soap after an iconic 50-year stint.

With Gail missing from key scenes, viewers are concerned she may have already departed, reports the Liverpool Echo.

One viewer commented: “Notice how super nurse Aggie and Gail have completely gone missing from #Corrie“.

Another asked: “Has Gail now finished? I thought she was going to have a big storyline?”

A third fan questioned: “Can anyone remind me where Gail is supposed to be??”

Others expressed their dissatisfaction with Gail’s absence, with one tweeting: “Bethany is literally dying and they still can’t stick Gail into a scene?”

Meanwhile, another wondered: “Has Gail left already?”

Someone else asked: “Where is Gail?”

When Helen Worth’s departure as Gail was announced in June, it was hinted that a significant plot was in the works.

ITV has announced that the beloved actress will be shooting her final scenes in July, with her departure set to be broadcasted later in the year.

Reflecting on her time on the show, the soap icon expressed: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.”

She continued, acknowledging her decision-making process: “I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding.”

The star also paid homage to her experience on the show, saying: “I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in and week out and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew.

In conclusion, she shared her sentiments about her tenure: “The past 50 years have flown by and I don’t think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.”
