AFTER months of watching Paul Foreman battling with an incurable illness, Corrie viewers will be left devastated to see the beloved character pass away in upcoming episodes.

Paul has been fighting for survival ever since being diagnosed with motor neuron disease (MND) – a rare condition which affects the brain and nerves.

He slowly lost the ability to walk and over time became unable to digest solid food.

The most recent development saw Paul unable to even leave his flat as his stairlift became too dangerous to use.

It has been clear that his death was approaching as his physical health deteriorated, but his final moments will come at a shocking time.

Soap bosses have revealed that Paul’s husband is set to panic when he wakes up from a big night out and realises he’s lost his phone.

Billy knows that most of his photos of Paul from over the years are on his mobile, and is terrified to lose the mementoes from the precious time they have spent together.

He rushes off to search for it – but turns out to have left at the worst possible time.

In his absence, Summer and Bernie are horrified to find Paul unresponsive on the couch.

After realising that he is struggling to breathe, they rush to call an ambulance.

But both friends are scared that Billy might not make it back to the house in time to say his final goodbyes to Paul.

Because he has lost his phone, they can’t even call the former vicar to let him know Paul’s medical condition has worsened.

As Summer and Bernie attempt emergency care while waiting for the paramedics, will Billy find his way home in the nick of time?

Or will he be left to remember Paul as he was before Billy left the house?

Peter Ash, who plays Paul, paid tribute to his on-screen partner Daniel Brocklebank ahead of his exit from the show.

Speaking at the RadioTime Soap Awards, he said: “Working with Daniel from day one has been amazing. We have so much fun.

“And yeah, obviously because he has a personal connection to MND, he’s a great source of information and insight.

“And I’ll very much miss working with him.”
