Carla Barlow of Coronation Street was put in a difficult situation when Bobby Crawford chose to lie to the police about a serious offense.

It appears that future scenes may feature a rift within The Barlow family. Truths are coming to light on the cobbles as viewers of Coronation Street get closer to learning what happened to Lauren Bolton (played by Cait Fitton).

According to official ITV soap opera spoilers, Joel Deering (Calum Lill) will take his relationship with Dee Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) more seriously the following week when he reserves a table at the bistro so she can meet his parents.

Joel goes to meet with the former criminal to discuss his plea, even though she is furious that he is defending Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper). In another scene, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) keeps pursuing her goal of demonstrating Nathan’s involvement in Lauren’s disappearance.

Speaking with PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), Bethany reveals that she discovered Nathan used to abuse her as well after chatting with young adolescent Ellie. After deciding to pay Ellie a visit, Craig gives him her address.

But Ellie is nowhere to be found when he gets there, and her roommate informs Craig that she has moved out. But before he departs, she discloses that the teenager appeared afraid of something.

Later on, Dee-Dee unintentionally tells Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) the truth about Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll).

According to the solicitor, Bobby was the one who gave a false statement to the police in an attempt to free Roy Cropper (David Neilson) from prison, thus stitching up his uncle Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).

The shocks don’t stop there, though, because she also tells him that Allison King’s character Carla Barlow participated in the lie.

Later on, when The Barlows all get together in the Rovers, Adam decides it’s time they find out the real story.

He clarifies that Daniel’s rise to prominence as a main suspect in Lauren’s murder case was entirely Bobby’s fault.

What will be the family’s response to this knowledge? Will Carla eventually find herself cut off from the Barlow family as well?

The owner of Underworld, Chris Gascoyne, decided last week to revert her last name from Barlow to Connor after finding out Peter Barlow had moved overseas.

The past few months have been turbulent for Carla on the cobbles, as her husband left Weatherfield shortly before her estranged nephew showed up at her door.

Bobby has become close to Roy since moving into his new house, and he was determined that Roy not be charged with Lauren’s murder.

Giving a false statement to the police, he told the police he spotted a man wearing a balaclava leaving Lauren’s flat, clarifying it was not Roy.

Carla didn’t want her friend to go to prison permanently, so she overrode her better judgment even though she first disapproved of the massive lie.

Could Carla’s actions, though, drive her away from the Barlow family?
