The mysterious “self-improvement group” The Institute, led by Coronation Street’s Rowan, may be coming to an end, despite the mayhem they have generated on the cobbles.

The terrifying cult plot of Coronation Street may soon be coming to an end. Viewers were first introduced to the enigmatic “self-improvement group” The Institute earlier this year. Emhrys Cooper’s Rowan Cunliffe and his cult attracted the attention of Cobbles resident Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).

And she joined quickly, much to the dismay of her sister Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor) and fiancé Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), who have both expressed worries about Leanne.

To their dismay, Leanne—who has since brought Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) to the group—is under the control of the Institute.

Toyah has no idea that Leanne has been giving Rowan access to her and her sister’s most private information, which he subsequently utilizes against her. Toyah has been coping with her own challenges in the meanwhile.

Following her disclosure to Nick regarding the death of her stillborn daughter Rose, the two became more intimate and eventually shared a bed.

Seeing their private moment, Rowan used it as leverage to force Toyah to sign a non-disclosure agreement promising to remain silent about the institute. Toyah is still looking into The Institute, nevertheless, despite this.

But based on fan outcry, it seems that the plot—which has caused a lot of controversy—may be coming to an end shortly.

The fact that actor Emrhys Cooper, who plays villainous Rowan, will be participating in an upcoming pantomime was recently shared on his Instagram Story.

Emrhys is starring as Prince Fredrick in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a production presented by St Helens Theatre Royal.

It is anticipated that Emrhys will miss two months of ITV soap opera filming due to the assignment, which runs from November 30, 2024, until January 15, 2025.

Additionally, Corrie normally shoots six weeks ahead of schedule, so the cult narrative might conclude in September.
