In tonight’s Coronation Street (19 June 2024), Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) devised a revenge plan against Stefan Brent (Paul Opacic).
Kevin’s wife Abi (Sally Carman-Duttine) was the target of deepfake trolling, so when she found out that Stefan was the owner of the magazine that wanted Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) to feature a positive story on Stefan’s son Corey (Maximus Evans), the couple became suspicious.
Right now, Corey is serving a well-earned prison term for the murder of Seb Franklin, Abi’s son (Harry Visinoni). When Abi learned that Stefan was the owner of the production company behind the documentary highlighting Corey’s football prowess while incarcerated, she was inspired to take action.
She knew Stefan had made the videos to hurt her feelings because Abi had made a video criticizing the show and Corey, which led to the documentary’s cancellation.
Abi informed Bethany of the development after Bethany declined to write the piece on Corey, and she and Kevin reported Stefan to the police.
After Kevin disclosed that Stefan had been released by the police, Abi went up to DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), who argued that there was no reason to even examine Stefan’s electronics, much less make an arrest or file charges against him.
Angry, Abi stormed into Stefan’s office and told him to stop playing practical jokes on her. Stefan vehemently denied it and persisted in pursuing the broadcast of the documentary.
Following a run-in with Abi, Bethany later offered to leave the magazine, but she also mentioned that, as an insider, she could help them by alerting Abi to what was about to be published about Corey.
Abi grew more and more depressed about the state of affairs, longing to return to the drug-addled, suicidal version of herself. She reassured Kev that she just needed a vacation from the ongoing suffering and wasn’t going to relapse.
This prompted Kevin to visit Bethany, offering her her pass to enter Stefan’s office building if she truly wanted to help Abi.
Reluctantly, Bethany agreed, and Kevin added that she didn’t have to know about his plans. Now, what will Kev do?
