EXCLUSIVE: Coronation Street’s Kit Green actor has revealed how he felt about forcing soap legend Beth Tinker to leave the soap.

Coronation Street newbie shared his response to being told his character Kit Green had a huge part to play in Beth Tinker’s exit storyline.

Last month, soap legend Beth (Lisa George) left the cobbles after 13 years. As fans will recall, Beth tried to blackmail bent copper Kit (Jacob Roberts) – but it didn’t end too well.

Kit made his debut earlier this year as the long-lost son of Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) – and it’s fair to say his stint has ruffled plenty of feathers, including Beth.

Beth previously caught Kit in cahoots with troublemaker Sid – who was flogging counterfeit goods. In a bid to get evidence and blackmail him, Beth filmed their interaction and threatened Kit – leaving him raging.

However, after Beth’s son Craig (Colson Smith) confessed to Kit about the cover-up of Faye Windass and Emma Brooker’s hit and run in 2021, Kit used this to his advantage.

Taking things one step further, Kit gave Beth an ultimatum: leave Weatherfield or he would ruin her son Craig’s career in the police force by telling everyone about his cover-up.

Beth ultimately chose to leave the famous cobbles – leaving her family, and fans of the soap, heartbroken. But now, actor Jacob has shared how he feels about forcing legend Beth out of Weatherfield.

Talking to Express and other press, Jacob admitted it was “hard” and revealed that he thought Beth’s exit storyline was “quite quick.”

When asked how he felt when he found out Kit was running Beth out of Weatherfield, Jacob replied: “It’s one of them!” He went on: “She’d been here 13 years.

“I’ve been in that situation before, when you meet someone and you’re like ‘Oh god I’m part of your exit storyline.’ But she was so nice with me,” he added.

Admitting he thought the exit storyline was “quite quick”, Jacob added: “And you’ve got to respect the exit storyline so you really have to work.

“It was quite quick I thought off-screen, but it had to be because it had to be from that to the other. It was hard. But it was for his gain of what he’s capable of.”
