EXCLUSIVE: Corrie has seen its fair share of villains causing terror on the cobbles over the years and now, it’s been predicted the “baddest of all” could be heading back

One of the famous villains from Coronation Street may return to the soap opera 21 years after they passed away.

In 2001, Brian Capron’s character, serial killer Richard Hillman, first appeared on the cobbles. And it didn’t take him long to create a great deal of fear and drama.

Richard, infamous for his deadly spree on the cobbles, was frequently proclaimed the greatest villain of all time and the most detested soap opera character. The notorious villain massacred a number of the locals during his terrible reign of terror.

He ended up murdering his ex-wife Patricia Hillman and Maxine Peacock before confessing his crimes to Gail. He then attempted to murder the entire Platt family: Gail, David, Sarah and Bethany.

In a famous yet horrifying moment from 2003, Richard strapped the Platts inside the car and then set them on fire. After that, he forced them into the canal, but he was the only one who got wet.

But now, rumors are circulating that Richard might make an unexpected comeback to “draw in viewers.”Instant Casino has released unique odds on Richard returning to Corrie, which the bookies have pegged at 75/1.

Additionally, a PR specialist revealed to Daily Star only how Richard’s possible return would connect to his ex-wife Gail. “Often viewed as one of the best soap villains of all time, ITV bosses may want to see Hillman return to the show to draw in viewers,” stated Dom Aldworth, Head of Brand Marketing at Slingo.

Dom continued, saying, “Due to her popularity, Helen Worth, who plays Gail Platt, has apparently signed a £250,000 year-long contract with the ITV show.” Bosses may be seeking a major plot point for the upcoming year, one in which Hillman would return to haunt Platt in nightmares or visions.

The expert then brought up the fact that actor Brian is still friendly with the soap opera. He said, “It doesn’t seem entirely impossible that the fan-favorite villain makes a comeback. Additionally, Brian Capron seems to have maintained a good relationship with the show, visiting the soap opera’s former set at Granada Studios in 2019 to surprise fans.”

In contrast, the award-winning actor disclosed in an exclusive Daily Star interview from last year that he had a little part in the program more than 20 years before to being cast as the notorious serial killer.

“There are other roles I have played on Coronation Street,” he admitted. I don’t know if you are aware, but maybe twenty years prior to being cast as Richard, I had performed as a social worker named Don Worthington.

“Obviously, Richard is the one that everyone remembers,” Brian went on. However, I did begin work on the show in the 1980s and performed the role of Don for a few years.
