Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) has found himself in serious trouble in EastEnders, and he isn’t doing himself any favours.

Last week, a horrifying turn of events saw him murder wife Debbie, after falling behind with her care home fees.

Viewers will know that Debbie was in a coma after suffering a stroke in the bath several years ago.

Now, he is struggling to cope with the guilt of what he’s done, and pressure from Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) hasn’t helped.

Having convinced Phil to invest in a fake opportunity, Reiss managed to scrape together some cash to put towards his debts, though now he faces trouble as Phil is keen to see the returns of his investment.

Reiss tried to explain that he wasn’t in the right headspace for business, but Phil remained adamant.

Mourning, Reiss headed to the Queen Vic, where Zack Hudson (James Farrar) stopped to offer his condolences, before explaining how spending time with daughter Peach after her passing was really comforting to him.

This encouraged Reiss to pay Debbie a visit, but not before admitting his scam of Phil and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) to Sonia Fowler (Natalia Cassidy).

She was absolutely furious, but eventually he managed to win her over, and the pair headed to see Debbie.

Alone with his wife, Reiss tried to justify his actions by explaining that they had been in her best interests, pointing out that she hadn’t had a good quality of life for the past couple of years.

After reminiscing on a previous holiday they’d shared, where Debbie had spent all her time on the beach in the sun, it seemed as though even Reiss was convinced that he’d acted on her behalf.

However, he was still set to commit another crime, as he secretly removed her engagement ring from her finger, before pocketing it and leaving the room.

In the corridor, he was horrified to bump into Debbie’s parents, who were devastated by their daughter’s death.

However, it appeared that they were suspicious of the circumstances surrounding her passing, revealing that they had been informed hours before that she was stable.

Suspecting that something sinister was afoot, Debbie’s mum vowed to get to the bottom of what had happened.

Will Reiss be exposed for his crimes?
