Viewers of EastEnders have taken issue with yesterday’s (Thursday, June 13) episode of the soap opera, in which Karen Taylor, who is grieving, visited Dean in prison.

Karen went back to Walford the week of Keanu’s funeral in order to bid her son farewell. She wanted answers, though, more than anything else.

Specifically, why did Dean murder Keanu?

Karen’s on the warpath

Karen, who was having trouble understanding Dean’s decision to kill her son, went to the jail visiting room and pretended to be his mother Shirley. Dean held firm to his innocence as they talked.

Then he hinted that Linda was withholding information about her knowledge of Keanu’s murder.

Fans, however, took issue with the image and questioned how Karen was able to enter prison in the first place.

EastEnders fans point out plot holes in Karen prison scene

As the scene on X aired, many fans expressed their opinions on the show and asked how Karen had entered the prison to see Dean. Her visit was not just exceedingly impromptu—a brief break from his wake at The Queen Vic—but she hadn’t brought any identification with her.

“To enter a prison, you must present a passport or other form of identification. Unsurprisingly, there is a lot of security. Therefore, it is absurd to argue that Karen might enter without a visiting order or identification. We can’t all just enter and exit jails at random,” a fan commented.

Another said, “Ludicrous idea that Karen could get in prison and see Dean Wicks just like that, even if she was pretending to be Shirley!”

“How did Karen arrange to see Dean in prison on the day she made her decision to do so?” inquired a third.

“Karen is in the pub one minute, and she’s seeing Dean in jail the next. Really [bleeping] amazing! A fourth was mentioned.

Did you find the show to be less enjoyable because of this very remarkable plot hole?
