EastEnders fans are convinced that a huge icon is set to return after a heartbreaking new storyline has been confirmed for Kat Slater and her son Tommy.

EastEnders enthusiasts are speculating that a beloved character might be making a comeback, in light of the ongoing abuse storyline involving Kat Slater and Tommy Moon.

This week it was confirmed that Kat (played by Jessie Wallace) and her son Tommy will be at the heart of a distressing child to parent plot this summer. Recently, the young lad has been seen acting out against his family.

In this week’s episodes, Kat found herself on the receiving end of Tommy’s tantrum. In shocking scenes, his antagonistic behaviour escalated into violence. The teenager’s aggression was triggered when he attempted to play cupid between Kat and her ex Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), but failed.

Over the coming weeks and months, BBC One soap viewers will witness Tommy using his behaviour to manipulate and dominate Kat. This will significantly impact their relationship and have a broader effect on the entire Slater-Moon family, reports the Daily Star.

However, with more drama on the horizon, fans believe this distressing new storyline could pave the way for the return of Zoe Slater, Kat’s daughter.

One fan shared on social media: “This Kat and Tommy storyline will end with a Zoe return. I can feel it”.

Another viewer responded: ” I was thinking the same, she comes to slap him down! But has she even met Tommy?”

Zoe (Michelle Ryan), the youngest Slater sister, rocked up to Albert Square with the rest of the clan including Kat in 2000. And it’s fair to say Zoe had her fair share of big storylines.

But it was in 2001, when the soap created one of its biggest and most iconic twists ever involving the Slater family. In scenes that are still imitated now, Zoe learned the horrifying truth about her parentage.

Zoe found out that big sister Kat was actually her biological mother. It was then revealed that Kat was raped by her uncle Harry when she was 13, with her falling pregnant with Zoe.

The shock news resulted in the famous clip involving Zoe and Kat. Storming through the Square, Zoe told Kat: ” Zoe (Michelle Ryan), the youngest Slater sister, made her debut on Albert Square along with the rest of the family, including Kat, in 2000. It’s safe to say Zoe had her fair share of major storylines.

A monumental twist in 2001 involving the Slater family is still one of the most iconic moments in the history of EastEnders. The shocking revelation about Zoe’s parentage, where she discovered that Kat, her supposed older sister, was actually her biological mother, left audiences gasping.

Following this came the traumatic truth about Kat being raped by her uncle Harry at the age of 13, which resulted in her becoming pregnant with Zoe.

This news led to an iconic scene where Zoe yelled at Kat: “You can’t tell me what to do, you ain’t my mother,” before Kat responded with the infamous line: “Yes I am.” This dramatic showdown is remembered as one of television’s greatest moments in the UK.

In 2005, Zoe bid farewell to Walford and jetted off to Ibiza. She hasn’t been seen in the Square since, besides a mention in 2022 when it emerged that she had returned to live in London.

However, devoted fans are hopeful that Zoe will return to Albert Square as tensions continue to rise for her mother, Kat. Predictions about Zoe’s potential comeback have been buzzing on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

One fan speculated: “This Kat and Tommy storyline will end with a Zoe return. I can feel it.” Another agreed, adding: “I was thinking the same, she comes to slap him down! But has she even met Tommy?”

EastEnders continues Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
