Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) came face to face with the wrath of Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) in recent EastEnders scenes, but Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) came to the rescue.

Reiss has been on borrowed time since stealing a substantial sum of money from Phil under the guise of an investment, in a bid to pay off his wife Debbie’s care home fees.

Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for Phil to catch on to Reiss’ crime, and his patience began to wear thin the more excuses Reiss made.

Last week, he threatened to hurt Reiss if he didn’t get his money back by Monday.

Terrified, Reiss tried his best to get Sonia to leave the Square with him, but her refusal meant that it wasn’t long before Phil came knocking.

Phil drew quite the audience as he pounded on Sonia and Reiss’ front door, demanding his money back.

When Sonia finally opened up, she insisted that they wouldn’t be able to have an adult conversation if Phil kept shouting the odds, and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) agreed.

When Phil showed no signs of calming down, Sonia pulled out a secret weapon, pointing out that Phil had promised Jamie Mitchell that he would look after Sonia.

Jamie was Sonia’s boyfriend who died in devastating scenes after a car accident in 2002.

Phil seemed taken aback by Sonia’s reminder, which gave Sharon enough time to reason with him, insisting that she should be the one to sort out this mess.

Eventually, Phil relented, and Sharon agreed to wait until Debbie’s life insurance came through before getting her money back.

Meanwhile, Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) made a deal with Phil that he would take on Reiss’ debt.

After paying Phil what Reiss owed, Teddy paid Reiss a visit and insisted that he needed to work for him in order to pay off his debt.

What exactly does Teddy have planned for Reiss?
