EastEnders: Three new Mitchells weren’t necessary, fans complain

The arrival of three (!) new Mitchells in this week’s episodes of EastEnders has drawn criticism from the show’s audience. Teddy, Stevie’s son, hurried to his hospitalized father’s bedside while carrying his own sons, Barney and Harry.

The three made their presence known in Walford right away, with Teddy eager to learn the truth about his father’s injuries. The turning point was reached in The Queen Vic, when Stevie came clean.

Billy was taken aback to discover that Teddy was actually his brother and Stevie’s other son.

EastEnders fans react to the new Mitchell men

Social media was used by viewers to discuss Teddy and his sons after the episode aired. Furthermore, not everyone was overly happy to see them.

One Reddit user posed the question, “How many more Mitchells can one show take?” and listed the fourteen Mitchells who are presently residing in Walford. This viewer went on, “The characters might be amazing, but make room for them if they are.”

“I wish they were a new family because the Mitchells come with a lot of baggage and they keep coming up with new things, and it feels like too much to me,” they concluded.

‘Three utterly superfluous characters,’ say fans

This opinion was also expressed on X, where viewers persisted in debating whether or not there should be more Mitchells.

It seems like there are already 700 characters in this thirty-minute show, even to me as a new viewer. One fan commented, “I don’t think they need three more.”

‘Three utterly superfluous characters,’ wrote a second.

‘Am I meant to like the new Mitchell family members? Because I don’t, and I don’t even get what they were trying to go for with Teddy,’ mused another.

I was correct, then. There wasn’t a need for any more violent Mitchell men to show up on the square, according to a fourth.

Do you think the new Mitchell men are good?
