Following Wednesday’s episode, show executives released an update, which prompted many Emmerdale fans to take aim at the soap opera. In the most recent episode of the popular soap opera, Belle King begged her violent husband Tom to stop abusing Amelia Spencer.

The conversation started when Amelia inadvertently disclosed that she and Tom are currently dating. After using his own key to enter Belle’s home, Tom informed her she was “clearly jealous” and Belle, shaken, stated she was “begging him” to stay away from Amelia.

Tom grabbed Belle’s hands and told her: “We’d be so good if we got together again, I know we would”. With his hands grasping her face, he then planted a kiss on her lips and said: “I’m never giving up on us Belle. We belong together, you’ll see”.

After the credits rolled, Emmerdale shared a clip of the scene on its official Instagram page and said: “What will be Belle’s next move? Find out tomorrow in a special hour-long episode on ITV1 and ITVX.” And the update has prompted some fans to share their disappointment.

In the post’s comments section, Adam said: “End this now, dragging on too long, I’m sure everyone’s shouting at the screen record him, tell them what he’s done to you”. Rachel said: “She needs to set her phone to record and tape him I can’t stand it any more I hate him! I need to remember its a soap”.

Karen said: “That’s it I’m done” and Dave said: “Sorry Emmerdale I know this happens in real life and it’s important to raise awareness but this storyline needs to end now. Tom has pulled Belle’s strings for too long now it’s unbearable to watch”.

Viewers are about to see potential realities for Belle play out on screen, following her leaving the relationship and Tom threatening Belle, saying he will never give up on her. The soap will see Belle interact with and observe situations that may never actually happen in reality as a way for her to tell the audience how she has been suffering amid her fear of speaking out about the abuse.

Belle actress Eden said: “I’m excited for everyone to see this dream episode as I feel it’s a great representation of what’s going on inside Belle’s mind and the constant fear, even though she is no longer in the abusive relationship. It was a very special episode to film, I understand viewers will find it distressing and uncomfortable, but I am so proud we are exploring this to its full potential to give people a real insight to what can go on.”

ITV has been approached for comment.
