Emmerdale viewers were left devastated after villainous Tom King appeared to kill Piper however the dog is still alive and could be the cause of his downfall
Emmerdale fans are convinced abusive Tom King will soon get comeuppance and Piper will be responsible. As viewers of the ITV soap will know, evil Tom (played by James Chase) has been tormenting his wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) for months, including both emotional and physical attacks.
When Belle found the strength to call time on her marriage to vet Tom, his behaviour spiralled into more sickening antics. He most recently pretended to Belle that her beloved dog Piper is dead after he mowed her down in his car.
The sinister plot was to try and get Belle emotionally closer to him, but Tom’s plan failed miserably.
After giving Piper a false funeral Tom was later seen giving the pooch away to a new family and citing an ‘abusive’ owner as the reason for her need to be rehomed.
However, Belle grew suspicious and concluded Tom was responsible for Piper’s “accident”.
In a dramatic showdown, Tom chillingly issued threats to Belle and even tried to convince her that his abuse was all in her head.
Belle has tried to strike back in the best way she can – by reaching out to the police and asking to have access to Tom’s information as she called upon Clare’s Law to find out if he had ever been abusive to former partners.
But some fans are predicting Piper will find her way back into the arms of Belle and Tom’s demise will shortly follow.
Taking to an Emmerdale group on Reddit, one fan asked: “Why do people think Piper will kill Tom?”, which sparked speculation that the dog will cause Tom as accident resulting in his death.
One soap fan replied: “The only way Piper could realistically kill Tom would be if he was to trip over her, fall, and crack his head open. She’s far too tiny to be able to savage him to death, sadly.
“Which is precisely why he got Belle a small dog instead of, say, an Alsatian, which would undoubtedly have fought back, defended Belle, and likely have attacked Tom about 45 times a week. Smaller dogs are easier for cowardly Tom to bully and control.”
A second explained: “The only way I could see that theory working is if she was to run off from the new owners and find her way back to Belle’s. The dog runs out as Tom is driving, he swerves and hits a tree killing him instantly.”
Another added: “There are plenty of roundabout ways she could be his undoing. He could trip over her and slash his neck on a shard of Lisa’s urn that wasn’t cleared up.
“She could escape and come home, just as Tom is about to burn the house down. He spills petrol over himself and accidentally sets himself on fire, as she escapes through a catflap.
“He’s in the house, checking cameras, or just smugly laughing to himself. She comes home, he tries to catch her, but trips and breaks his neck. As he’s lying there, paralysed, Piper sits on his face and waits for Belle to come home to find his corpse.”
While another fan simply added: “Cause Piper is the hero we all deserve. GOATed.”
