Since moving to the Dales in 1989, Emmerdale’s Kim Tate has been at the center of some of the show’s biggest storylines; however, fans are certain that she will soon meet a grisly end.
If fan speculation about Emmerdale regular Kim Tate is any indication, she may be nearing her end, which has sparked a flurry of discussion about her possible departure.
Since 1989, Claire King has been captivating audiences as the legendary man-eater Kim Tate on ITV’s Emmerdale, becoming a fan favorite amid a flurry of drama at the Dales.
After an emotional farewell in 1999, Kim triumphantly returned to the show two decades later and went on to be the central character in some of the most shocking plot twists the show has ever seen.
Kim has had her fair share of seductive moments in addition to her share of skulduggery. Claire’s portrayal in Emmerdale has definitely raised the ante, whether it was her extramarital affair with young David Glover or her snogging of Nick Tilsley from Coronation Street.
However, there has been some recent fan chatter suggesting that Kim’s era may be coming to an end. Curious about how the strong matriarch will be portrayed on the soap opera, there has been discussion about it on Reddit, according to the Mirror.
Among the conjecture, one comment stood out: “How do you think they will kill off the legendary Kim Tate when the time comes? Will it be a murder/whodunit, an explosive fire/stunt, or a medical emergency?”
“I personally would love to see an illness storyline for her as Claire King is an amazing actress,” the commenter said, continuing their thoughts about Kim’s possible demise. “Perhaps where Kim finds out secretly and doesn’t tell her family for a while.” And she kept it a secret from all but her closest friends, Lydia and Mary, until the day she passes out in the field while mounted on one of her horses.
“And when Lydia tells Will what’s been going on, they start looking for her, and it’s only a matter of time until things go south. I’m not sure which disease I would pick, but I would prefer something progressive, something along the lines of Coronation Street’s MND plot.”
Other backers chimed in with their theories. “Suicide by murder,” one said. She has promised that she will end her acting career when Emmerdale concludes, so she needs to go out with a BLAZE of glory.”
A different fan speculated: “Unfortunately age is against us all I think I will be illness if anything that ends her.. just please give us as many years possible first and don’t let it be rushed.”
The conversation happens in the midst of reports that actress Claire is preparing for a fan-only soap opera gathering. In the first of a new series of audience with… events, she will be sharing her Emmerdale experiences with the fans in real time.
Leeds’ opulent Weetwood Hotel will host the star-studded event. “Kim Tate has been and continues to be an incredible part of my life. The opportunity to play such a powerful (if not tricky!) character is a gift for any actor, and I feel very lucky to do so,” said the renowned actress.
