Emmerdale fans are convinced that Robert Sugden will be making a return to the soap after his half-brother John arrived in the village to shake things up.

Emmerdale fans are speculating that Robert Sugden, played by Ryan Hawley, could be making a comeback as his half-brother makes an appearance in the village. Robert, who was previously married to Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), is currently serving a prison sentence for manslaughter.

He assaulted Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie) in retaliation for the rape of his sister Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins). The altercation resulted in Lee’s death.

Robert and Aaron attempted to evade the police but eventually, Robert chose to turn himself in, leading to their separation.

Recently, Aaron has been communicating with a mysterious individual on a dating app, who was revealed on Tuesday (August 7) to be John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).

Victoria is set for a surprise when she discovers her connection to John. Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) awkwardly discloses that John could potentially be her half-brother and the son of her late father, Jack Sugden, making him and Robert half-siblings.

The Sugden family, a staple in the Dales, has seen its numbers dwindle over the years, with only Victoria and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) still residing in the village.

However, with John’s arrival, some viewers are predicting that Robert may also be planning a surprise return to Emmerdale, reports the Manchester Evening News.

One Emmerdale viewer took to social media, asking: “What do you think of John Sugden? I quite like him but I’m curious to see how Aaron will react when he discovers that his date is actually Victoria’s brother John Sugden. Remember Robert was also a Sugden. #Emmerdale.”

Another fan commented: “This better all be setting up Robert’s return. #Robron”, while another added: “Omg so messy ! ! This better be leading up to Robert’s return or you better count your days.”

“When John said ‘wondering when you would shut up’ it sounded like Robert!”, observed another.
