Actor Steve Halliwell, 77, of Emmerdale, who spent 30 years playing Zak Dingle on the ITV soap opera, passed away in December.

According to reports, he bequeathed £63,000 to his widow Valerie and 40-year-old daughter Charlotte, as part of his estate.

The Sun claims that Steve could have made up to £200,000 annually from Emmerdale, where he was a star from 1994 until his passing.

Steve played Zak Dingle in nearly 2,500 episodes of the soap opera, where stars may get up to £2,000 apiece.

Emmerdale producer Sophie Roper told The Mirror in July: “The Dingles have been at the heart of our show for 30 years now, and will continue to be so.

“We lost Steve recently, so we’re going to be marking Zak’s passing in the coming months with a Dingle funeral.

“It will be very difficult for a lot of people who work on the show and obviously a lot of our viewers who have grown and love Zak for many, many years – but it will be a hugely fitting tribute for a great character.”

In December 2023, Emmerdale released a heartfelt statement mourning the loss of Steve.
