Emmerdale’s Matty Barton was able to leave prison but the soap has now appeared to tease that the worst is yet to come for the beloved villager.
After being released from prison, Matty Barton from Emmerdale looks like his situation is about to worsen.
Last month, troublemaker Josh Cope (Osian Morgan) and Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) attempted to loot The Hide, landing the beloved character Ash Palmisciano in jail.
However, things quickly got out of hand when Josh shoved Samson into Matty, who was brandishing a knife, stabbing Samson in the process. The two were threatening Matty.
Matty was sentenced to prison after Josh and Samson both lied and claimed that Matty intentionally caused the damage. Matty was terrified for his life while he was incarcerated, believing that his gender identity would make him a target.
Matty’s situation got so terrible that he had to enlist his prison friend Les to beat him up in order to be released from custody for a short while. Unfortunately for Matty, unfortunately, he returned to prison very soon after spending time in the hospital.
In the meantime, Matty’s mother Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) and wife Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) were fighting hard to clear his record. In an attempt to coerce Samson into telling the truth, Moira even abducted Samson along with Mack Boyd (Lawrence Robb).
In the most recent episodes, Samson came clean about lying to Lydia (Karen Blick) and dad Sam (James Hooton). He later changed his mind and told the police the truth, going back on what he had said earlier.
Additionally, as a result of Samson’s confession, Matty was required to attend a court hearing on Wednesday, July 17. Fortunately, he was able to get out of prison, which thrilled Moira and Amy.
Matty returned to the Dales shortly after, but Amy requested him to lock up before going to bed later that evening. Matty then began to experience flashbacks to his time in prison as he made his way to the door.
Matty appeared shocked and had tears welling up in his eyes as the sounds of the jail doors slamming and the depraved cries of the inmates were audible, seemingly hinting at a possible PTSD plot.
