The Dingles and Tates look set for an unlikely romance

In upcoming scenes, Emmerdale will feature a forbidden love story of sorts.

Watchers will witness Vinny Dingle and Gabby Thomas start dating. With Gabby practically being a Home Farm adopted Tate and the Dingle clan being seen as the lower class, it will be perceived as a true social class division.

During an Emmerdale press event, where lots of gossip was discussed, stars Rosie Bentham and Bradley Johnson, discussed what is in-store for fans. There’s firstly an expectation that the new pairing might soften Gabby.

Rosie, who plays the character, said: “It is a bit of a different pairing for Gabby. She’s normally going for bad boys.” Vinny Dingle actor Bradley added: “The dynamic is good. Vinny is this geeky character while Gabby is bossy but it does work. It brings the best out of both of them.”

The two Emmerdale acting talents were asked whether Gabby and Vinny’s vastly different families would get on should the romance become a serious long-term thing. Bradley replied: “The Dingles aren’t a normal family to introduce someone to. There would be a few questions.”

Rosie joked: “I don’t know if there is any people in the Dingles who dislike Gabby but there probably might be.”

Bradley then added: “The poor house and the rich have never got along. (turning to Rosis) You’re not really a Tate. That easies it a little bit.”

Both Rosie and Bradley said they have enjoyed filming the scenes involving their characters with there being lots of comedic opportunities. Rosie explained: “It is a car crash waiting to happen. Two polar opposites.”

Bradley said: “I’ve loved the storyline. The way they are writing for both of them and bringing Vinny’s geekiness back out.”

Both admitted the ongoing plot has lots of potential. Rosie explained: “It will be fun to see whether Gabby can blend into the Dingles or Vinny blending into possible life at Home Farm.”

With the latter point in mind, Bradley was asked if he could foresee Gabby, who has a mixed track record, turning him a little darker.

“He’s had a lot of opportunities to go down the wrong path and he hasn’t so far,” Bradley replied. “If he’s happy, he might do anything for love.”

Concluding, rather ominously, Rosie said: “I think if you (looking at co-star Bradley) turned bad it would be so good.”

We’ll have to see what the future holds for Emmerdale’s potential new power couple.
