Belle King and her husband Tom in Emmerdale are scheduled to undergo yet another terrible order from him next week, during which they will be spending time apart in isolation.
Tom King from Emmerdale is expected to intensify his deceptive actions in a stand-alone episode of the popular drama airing on ITV1 the following week.
Tom (James Chase) hurries his wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) to a remote vacation home in Wales in a well-thought-out maneuver. However, this just serves to distance her from her family even more.
The magnitude of Tom’s domineering tendencies are already well known to Emmerdale viewers, who have voiced concern for Belle, who is frequently the target of his violent and erratic outbursts.
Tom has been physically aggressive towards Belle since they got married earlier this year. He even struck her close buddy Vinny over the head and left him for dead.
Along with trying to keep Belle away from her family, he has also been stalking her and making terrible decisions for her without consulting her.
There will be flashbacks to Tom and Belle’s ostensibly happy arrival at the isolated cottage in the next episode.
However, viewers will see the whole week through flashbacks, demonstrating Tom’s physical and mental power over Belle and their puppy Piper, as Belle overhears Tom scheming to extend their stay. As things go worse, Belle discovers that the narcissistic man has total control over her.
Belle feels stuck after realizing she’s shut off from everyone she loves. There has been a total change in the power dynamic as Tom keeps blaming her for all of their issues, even though she tries her hardest to please him.
Producer Sophie Roper offered her opinion on the next scenes, saying this: “Tom’s dominating and manipulative behavior will cause Belle to become even more estranged from her family when they travel to Wales.
It will sometimes be challenging and uncomfortable to witness Tom King’s actions, which are typical of a coercive controlling relationship.
“The assistance the charity Refuge has given us whilst researching this storyline has been enormously helpful in bringing this incredibly important storyline to our screen.”
Emma Pickering, Head of Technology-Facilitated violence and Economic Empowerment at Refuge, stated in the meanwhile: “We really wanted to depict the isolation and control that we know underlying domestic violence while working with Emmerdale on this plot.
“That is illustrated in a very literal sense in this cottage episode, but we know often survivors are isolated from their families and communities over time in a deliberate act from their perpetrator to remove them from support systems and making it very difficult for them to leave their abusers.”
Emma went on, “We are aware that some viewers have occasionally found the Belle and Tom plot difficult to follow, but it is crucial that we discuss domestic abuse and make it seem real, even if it is a fictionalized account.
“We are so grateful to Emmerdale for allowing us to feed in with our expert knowledge and the vital awareness this storyline is raising about this issue.”
