John Sugden and Aaron Dingle have had a love-hate relationship since John Sugden moved to Emmerdale last month, but recently, they have become quite close.
Viewers of Emmerdale have questioned the chemistry between Aaron Dingle and newbie John Sugden, criticizing their budding romance.
Prior to their in-person meeting last month, the two communicated via a dating app after John (played by Oliver Farnworth) broke down on the side of the road.
Before realizing that John was his secret internet crush, Aaron (Danny Miller) attempted to restore the car. He then spent no time in having a passionate encounter in his camper van.
But relations between Aaron and John grew chilly when Aaron found out that John was the half-brother of his former partner Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley).
In recent episodes, it appears Aaron and John can’t keep away from one another as they enjoy a fling. But viewers have been less than impressed and have accused the two men of having no romantic chemistry.
Taking to Reddit to discuss John and Aaron’s romance, one person wrote: “Anybody else laughing at the way they’re kissing?? I’ve seen more convincing kisses in a school play!!! It’s like they don’t actually want to be touching each other and are being forced to do it, not feeling any chemistry between them at all.”
A second replied: “It really was awful the other day – I’m glad it wasn’t just me. I get they were trying to do, ‘Oh we hate each other and don’t want to kiss but we can’t help ourselves’ but it just came across as, ‘eww, I don’t wanna kiss you’.”
A third chimed in: “I want to like them together. I want Aaron to be softened and forget what a little prick he’s been. But this is not it.”
“Looked like Dementors was sucking the souls out of each other”, joked one viewer.
“The relationship so far seems weird and forced. I don’t even like MacKenzie but Aaron has far better chemistry with him than John”, added another.
Although one viewer jumped to their defence and added: “I kind of think that’s what it’s suppose to be. They aren’t comfortable with each other, the characters or the actors. It will take time. Sometimes you hit gold with chemistry sometimes it takes time.”
