Tom King’s story in Emmerdale had a new development on Tuesday when it was revealed that he had been covertly seeing a different villager, which alarmed Belle Dingle.
The news that Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) and local villain Tom King (James Chase) are romantically involved has shocked viewers of Emmerdale. For months, Tom has been mentally and physically abusing his estranged wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper), even leading her to believe that her cherished dog Piper has passed away.
But Belle is now aware she is being abused by Tom but is struggling to get support for family, friends, and the police. During Tuesday’s trip to the village (September 3), Belle was still reeling after Tom had threatened to share some personal photos taken from her laptop.
Determined to beat Tom at his own game, Belle sought tech wisdom from Ryan Stocks (James Moore), under the guise of helping a ‘friend’. Ryan’s idea about erasing data from the blackmailer’s devices sparked an audacious plan in Belle.
Under cover of deception, she nicked Nicola King’s (Nicola Wheeler) and sneaked into her cottage where Tom has been staying since their split.
Caught off guard by his return, Belle had to conceal herself but managed to snatch Tom’s tablet and scamper off undetected.
Later, Tom registered the absence of his tablet and worked out that Belle must have broken in and taken it.
In a race against time, Belle tried to crack Tom’s password, only to be interrupted by an anonymous knock at the door. A search outside left her place unguarded, and cunning Tom took advantage to reclaim his device with his secret key.
Later, while in The Woolpack, Belle boldly confronted Tom about the break-in, but onlookers doubted her claim.
The plot twisted further when Amelia disclosed Tom’s alibi, proving he was with her at the precise moment Belle insisted he was thieving back his tablet.
When Amelia questioned if her interfering had ruined her romance, the vet confirmed they had been seeing one another for a short while.
“Course not, these last couple of weeks have been great”, Tom reassured her.
However, when she tried to kiss him in public, Tom held back and cited “not wanting to hurt Belle” as his excuse for not reciprocating the public display of affection.
Outside, Belle warned Tom to leave Amelia alone, but he insisted he would be carrying on for as long as the teen remained “useful”. Tom then issued Belle a warning – to stop pushing him or he would make sure she looked mad.
Emmerdale viewers were left floored after Tom confirmed his romance with Amelia had been happening for the past fortnight, with one person writing on X: “Tom and Amelia at it for 2 weeks. Sorry what #Emmerdale.”
A second said: “The fact that even the Tom and Amelia’s “relationship” is happening off-screen just makes this storyline so one dimensional #Emmerdale.”
A third chimed in with: “Ok stop when did this tom and amelia travesty happen #Emmerdale”, while another echoed: “Since when have Tom & Amelia been having a relationship??? #emmerdale.”
