Emmerdale favourite Dean Andrews, who plays Will Taylor, has been a staple of British TV for decades – but fans were left stunned as they spotted him with a mullet hairstyle

Emmerdale’s Dean Andrews has left fans in awe with a nostalgic photo showcasing his epic mullet back in ’86, when he entertained holidaymakers. Admirers couldn’t resist praising the vintage look, with one commenting “an impressive mullet you have there”.

Long before he became known as Emmerdale’s stalwart Will Taylor in April 2019, Dean was captivating crowds with his musical prowess for over two decades. Hailing from Rotherham, born on 6 August 1963, the affectionately nicknamed “Deano” was handpicked by director Ken Loach for the film The Navigators in 2001, marking his dramatic break from music to acting.

Dean didn’t just charm the Dales upon arrival; he had already graced Albert Square in EastEnders playing Dean in 2002, and again in the TV special EastEnders: Ricky and Bianca that same year.

Beyond the soaps, Dean expanded his TV presence with roles in recognised series like Clocking Off (2003), Casualty, Shameless, The Street, and Silent Witness, as observed by the Daily Star. He particularly stood out as Pete Lewis in Being Eileen in 2013 and as Robbie in Last Tango in Halifax from 2012 to 2016.

Yet, it’s probably his portrayal of the rugged DS Ray Carling in the iconic BBC series Life on Mars that most fans cherish, where he shared the spotlight with John Simm and Philip Glenister between 2006-2007, and once more in the sequel Ashes to Ashes with Keeley Hawes from 2008-2010, reports OK!.

Dean frequently shares glimpses of his time with the casts of both shows, including a playful behind-the-scenes performance of Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl, performed alongside co-stars Philip Glennister and Marshall Lancaster during the third series of Ashes to Ashes.

Another photo features Dean with co-star Monseratt Lambard and 80s Spandau Ballet legend Tony Hadley on the Ashes to Ashes set. In another scene, Andrews and fellow actor Marshall Lancaster are dressed as Superman and James Bond for a costume party in one of the show’s storylines.

Ashes to Ashes also highlighted Dean’s singing talent, a skill he developed long before his acting career. For twenty years, he sang on cruise ships and at clubs.

He once posted a nostalgic 1986 album cover from his singing days on his Instagram, posing in black trousers and a tan leather jacket, titled You to Me are Everything.

Away from the camera, Dean is a devoted Rotherham football fan and in 2022, he participated in a fundraising event for the Rotherham Hospice. The family man is happily married to Helen Bowen-Green, lives with their two children, and recently welcomed granddaughter Ida-Rae in August 2022.
