Although the character of Gabby Thomas has been on film for 22 years, Rosie Bentham has performed the role on Emmerdale since she joined the soap opera in 2016.
Rosie Bentham’s portrayal of Emmerdale’s Gabby Thomas has had a rollercoaster few months on the popular ITV soap. But could it convince her to permanently leave the Dales?
In upcoming scenes, Gabby is shown insisting on surrendering her ownership stakes in the numerous local businesses she co-owns, including The Hide Bistro and The Hop, cutting off her relationship with Home Farm and leaving Emmerdale for good.
Will she actually take her infant son Thomas with her when she departs? Or will she eventually have a change of heart?
In an effort to put the recent drama behind her and get her ex Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope) off her mind, Gabby recently jetted out to Portugal from the village. But it doesn’t appear that it did.
It’s reasonable to assume that Gabby has a lot of unpleasant memories associated with the Dales.
Gabby learned earlier this year that Nicky and his father Caleb’s (Will Ash) plot to overthrow Kim Tate (Claire King) merely led to their relationship.
He was also concealing his homosexuality.
Gabby was crushed when this all fell apart but Nicky immediately moved on.
After she moved in for a kiss while Billy (Jay Kontzle) was consoling her, he turned her down in scenes from last week.
When Billy refused to attack Nicky, Gabby threatened to inform Billy’s wife Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) about the close encounter.
She was eventually restrained, though, when Kim interfered and said Gabby was always playing the victim.
Could this be the character’s last act after 22 years of being on screen?
When her parents Ashley Thomas (John Middleton) and Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) brought their daughter home, Gabby made her television debut on Emmerdale in 2001.
From 2001 to 2015, actress Annelise Manojlovic played Gabby; from 2001 to 2002, Jemma Giles also played the role. In 2016, she was then given a new role, and Rosie debuted on the program.
Gabby wouldn’t be the first character to leave the popular ITV soap this year if she did leave.
In the recent months, fan favorites Dan Spencer (Liam Fox), Priya Kotecha (Fiona Wade), and Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) have all moved on.
Newcomer Marshall Hamston (Max Fletcher) left the cast after only seven months.
Viewers will need to pay attention to find out exactly what Gabby decides to do.
