Every Quartermaine is familiar with this process. ELQ is put first. They may talk a fine game, but if the family cannot prosper, neither can the business. They need to decide who will speak for Ned when he is otherwise unable because he is down and out. Some people could believe that choice has already been made. A family as wealthy and significant as the Quartermaines would undoubtedly plan for such details in advance of any tragedy. But things won’t turn out that way. Valentin might end up siding with Nina and give Ned his shares of ELQ in exchange for keeping quiet about what Nina has done, which is to inform the SEC of Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Drew Can (Cameron Mathison). However, that would only leave Ned with more ELQ shares, and as a result, Valentin’s strategy may fail if other family members object to Ned collecting more shares.

Even when her son is in desperate need, Tracy might take advantage of the circumstance, and it is obviously not beyond her to do so. It’s a ploy for her to claim she doesn’t want anything to do with the family business. Tracy is more intent on eliminating Drew so that the family can take over his shares. She may also be targeting Deception’s main investor, Valentin, with her interest in the company.
