And that’s because the talented actress is celebrating her 53rd birthday today. She was born on September 11, 1970, in Washington, D.C. Wright developed her acting abilities while still a high school student, performing in numerous plays such as Gypsy, Our Town, and You Can’t Take It With You. Wright made her television debut in 1991 as Allison “Ally” Rescott Bowman on the ABC daytime drama series Loving. Wright was kept on by the network when Loving was canceled and replaced by a show called The City, and she played the character of Ally in the new program.
Wright portrayed Cassie Layne on the popular CBS show Guiding Light from 1997 to 2005. Nicole Forester eventually took over the part. Wright was chosen to take over the role of Carly Roberts Corinthos on GH after Jennifer Bransford (and Tamara Braun, Sarah Joy Brown, and Tamara Braun before her) left the show. Wright had just left GL.
Since then, Wright has stayed on as a cast member of the ABC series, and in recognition of her work, she won the 2011 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Drama Series.
A Hit the Floor episode, the made-for-TV movie Stalked by My Patient, and the feature film Joy (which starred Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence) are among Wright’s other acting credits.
