Georgie Parker, star of Home and Away, has talked about her future on the soap opera and revealed one specific element that has sustained her on the program for so long.

After 14 years as Roo Stewart, Parker told Woman’s Day that she has three “major” reasons for continuing to love Summer Bay.

According to her, “It’s the cast and the crew,” “And then I get to come home every night, because usually, if you get a gig, you’ll spend three months in another state.”

“My life is more important to me than my work,” she added, adding that she appreciates being “accessible to my family” and remaining close to home. I need to be busy because I enjoy what I do and I wouldn’t be who I am without it.

However, my employment does not define who I am. The most important thing to me is my family and relationships, which truly determine who I am.

The performer, who is also well-known for her appearances in A Country Practice and All Saints, disclosed that her on-screen father, Ray Meagher, who portrays Alf Stewart, is the third factor that sustains her passion for her work.

Next year, Parker will take a vacation from Home and Away to star in two theater shows in Sydney and Brisbane.

The actress recently stated that she is “very grateful I get the freedom to do both” and that she values the chance to take vacations from her soap opera part to work on other projects.

“The writers have to keep writing me out of the show so I can come and go – to do the plays and other little gigs here and there, so I don’t envy them having to do that,” she stated.

“I think it’s important, at this time in my career, that I get to explore all the options of working with people I’ve worked with for 40 years.”
