Australian soap Home and Away celebrates its 35th anniversary today (January 17), and here, Daily Star takes a look at where one of Summer Bay’s famous families are now

In the past 35 years, the Australian soap opera Home and Away has exposed viewers to several legendary families, including The Braxtons.

When the family first moved to Summer Bay in 2010, they were at the center of some of the major plotlines in the soap opera, such as the death of Casey’s brother, Charlie Buckton, and a tale in which Darryl turned into a cage fighter.

However, where are the Braxtons right now?
Today, January 17, marks the 35th anniversary of Home and Away. The Daily Star looks more closely at the current lives of the Braxton family performers.

Steve Peacocke (Darryl ‘Brax’ Braxton)

Between 2011 and 2015, Steve Peacocke portrayed the oldest of the Braxton brothers on Home and Away. During this time, he was involved in major storylines, including the passing of his lifelong love Charlie Buckton and his transition into the cage-fighting world.

The actor won the Logie Award for Most Popular Actor, Most Popular New Male Talent, and a Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television for his well-received performance.

Steve, however, became quite successful in Hollywood after leaving the soap opera by landing a number of parts, such as Nathan in Me Before You, Stephanos in Hercules, and Nic in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

His most recent roles include sports reporter Rob Rickards in The Newsreader, for which he received an AACTA Award nomination for Best Guest or Supporting Actor in a Television Drama, and Ben in the Australian program Five Bedrooms, where he now plays Ben.

Speaking openly about one of the plotlines in Five Bedrooms, in which his character cheated on his wife Heather, Steven recently admitted that he dislikes filming sex scenes.

In an interview with Now To Love, he acknowledged: “I don’t usually enjoy performing any of that stuff.

“As an actor, I’m delighted that’s not me when I see other performers in sex scenes. I try to stay away from them, but if it advances the narrative, I think it’s worth it.

Steve’s family includes other well-known actors as well; the actor has been wed to Bridgette Sneddon since 2014.

Before getting married, the couple dated for almost ten years. They even co-starred in the Home and Away television series from 2014 to 2015, where Bridgette played Sophie Taylor.

Dan Ewing (Heath Braxton)

Dan Ewing, who portrayed the second Braxton Brother, was already a major star before he became famous for his role in a soap opera.

Before getting the part of Black Power Ranger Dillon in the popular television series Power Rangers RPM, the actor had roles in Blue Water High, Spirited, and Rescue: Special Ops.

He did, however, sign up for Home and Away in 2010 and played Heath Braxton there until 2014, when his character left the show after the passing of his on-screen brother Casey.

He later made a comeback for the Home and Away special An Eye For An Eye and made an appearance with professional dance partner Luda Kroiter on Dancing With The Stars until the two were ousted in week five.

Dan has since been cast in movies including Beast No More, Occupation, Love and Monsters, and most recently, Occupation: Rainfall.

Dan is also a well-known stage performer who has performed in shows like Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables, and Godspell.

Out of the spotlight, the celebrity was married to Marni Little from 2012 to 2016, during which time they had a kid. However, in 2016, the couple announced their divorce.

However, according to a 2018 Daily Mail report, following an alleged argument with his ex-new wife’s husband David Robertshaw, Dan was issued an apprehended violence order (AVO).

Dan expressed contrition for the argument he had with David on SAS Australia. According to Yahoo Australia, the actor said: “That dispute, verbal exchange, resulted in a complaint being lodged with police.

“That was looked into… The basic line, Staff, was that I let my ego and my emotions get involved, which made it disrespectful and worse than it had been previously.

Additionally, they stated that Dan and David get along well.

In addition, the actor started dating actress Kat Risteska in 2016. They got engaged and had a daughter in 2022.

Dan posted a romantic photo of Kat’s gorgeous engagement ring with the phrase, “All I want for Christmas is…” to announce their engagement.

Lincoln Younes (Casey Braxton)

Between 2011 and 2014, Lincoln Younes played Casey in the Braxton brothers trio, delighting fans before his terrible death.

He received the Inside Soap Award for Best Daytime Star after his departure.

The actor has since made appearances in a number of TV shows and motion pictures, including Down Under, Dead Lucky, Grand Hotel, Doctor Doctor, and most recently Last King Of The Cross.

However, he made a candid admission during an interview with Now To Love, when he spoke about the “brutal” acting industry, saying: “I had a constant stream of jobs for a while and then didn’t work for years.

“Then I adjusted and learnt things about myself and then went into theatre, and did that for a year, and then there wasn’t any work, and then out of nowhere, I got an American job.”

He added: “The highs are high, but the lows are incredibly low in what we do.

“You try to make sense of missed opportunities, but I think the most calming realisation I had is that sometimes it just doesn’t make sense.”

In his personal life, Lincoln was in a relationship with the actress Amy Ruffle between 2011 to 2016.

Nic Westaway (Kyle Braxton)

Kyle, the youngest Braxton sibling, was portrayed by musician and performer Nic Westaway from 2012 until 2016.

Nic started off in the Home and Away spin-off episode “An Eye For An Eye” before moving on to the films “Dance Academy: The Movie,” “Neurogenesis,” and most recently, “We Were Tomorrow” in 2022.

Not only that, but in 2017 he also made an appearance as Samantha Jade’s love interest in the song Always.

In 2019, he also performed as Prince Alladin at Newcastle Upon Tyne’s Tyne Theatre & Opera House.

Prior to participating in The Push Up Challenge in 2021, an activity that promotes mental health and generates money for charities and organizations that support those who may be experiencing difficulties, Nic also spoke honestly about his mental health.

Although he has never had an official diagnosis of depression, the actor said that he has “struggled,” saying: “I’ve never received an official diagnosis but it’s a battle I’ve had at times in my life.

But in a hopeful or constructive sense, I’ve discovered that the moments in my life when I’ve experienced the gloomy thoughts that I had classified as a light or moderate depression have given me the chance to discover tools to utilize to enhance my life or grow as a person.

The actor had once dated the model Shenae Gillespie in his personal life, but he revealed in a 2015 interview that the two had broken up.

He said to AAA Weekend in Perth Supplement Magazine, “No, we’re not (together). It’s still quite new and fresh.

Suzi Dougherty (Cheryl Braxton)

Suzi Dougherty played the mother of the Braxton brothers, but she was well-known even before she appeared in the soap opera.

The Flying Doctors, A Country Practice, Water Rats, Queen of the Damned, and Blue Heelers are just a few of the TV shows and movies in which the star has previously appeared.

Her most recent appearance is listed on IMDB as Mrs. Bowen in the 2020 television series The Gloaming.

When she’s not in the spotlight, Suzi likes to keep her private life a secret, thus it’s unclear if the celebrity is single or in a relationship.
