There’s more vehicular drama on Home and Away in the coming months, as at least one Summer Bay resident is involved in a major car crash, in what could form part of this year’s season finale.
Today, a photo of the show’s crew recording dramatic sequences on another “away” shoot in Blayney, Central West NSW, around 240 kilometres west of Sydney, surfaced online.
A nearby resident posted a picture of the scene on social media, showing a smashed car resting beneath a tree surrounded by workers.
Using “special effects of fire and smoke, and prop emergency vehicles,” local residents were forewarned in a letter dropped at their homes.
Approached by local paper the Blayney Chronicle for comment, Seven confirmed: “Home and Away is currently shooting some location scenes in beautiful Blayney and its surrounding areas.
“These scenes will feature in episodes screening on Channel 7 and 7Plus at a date yet to be announced.”
Whilst no cast members are visible in the photo, we can reveal that the car actually belongs to Leah Patterson (Ada Nicodemou)!
It is unknown if Leah is in the vehicle, if her boyfriend Justin (James Stewart) might be borrowing it, or even if their road trip puts them in danger.
However, since Matt Evans was seen filming scenes in Palm Beach this week, nephew Theo appears to be secure.
Viewers will no doubt still have the last big car crash fresh in their minds, which aired as last year’s mid-season cliffhanger before the Olympic games.
Location shooting for the accident took place near Wee Jasper, north-west of Canberra, as Dean’s (Patrick O’Connor) and Mia’s (Anna Samson) car left the road while they were picking up Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) from a distant town.
Mia (Harley Bonner) and Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams) sadly lost their much-desired child in the plot, and Logan Bennett (Harley Bonner) was also introduced. Logan Bennett made a dramatic helicopter entrance as a member of the emergency rescue squad.
The consequences of the vehicle accident this year are still unknown, but we’ll learn more about them in the months to come.

Xander is presently seeking assistance for the stress he is experiencing in his paramedic work, and viewers are also learning that his half-sister Jasmine (Sam Frost) will not be coming back to Summer Bay.
Could there be some happiness on the horizon for Xander?
Also present during the filming was Kawa as Nikau, who fans will be relieved to learn was back in his lifeguard’s uniform, after last night’s episode saw him face losing his job as the surf club’s paid lifeguard.
Along with fan favourite Shane Withington (John), Kirsty Marillier was also taking pictures with fans, thus answering the question of whether Rose chooses to stick around in Summer Bay—something which she finds herself asking in episodes airing over the next week.
These scenes are also likely to air in the final weeks of this year, or early 2023.
The exact date of this year’s season finale won’t be confirmed until much nearer the time, but recent years have seen it air in the final weeks of November.
