Home and Away’s Tammin Sursok shot to global stardom following her stint in the Channel 5 soap, but as little is known about her off screen life we took a look into it

Dani Sutherland, the disobedient eldest daughter of the Sutherland family who operated the caravan park, will be well-known to viewers of the popular Channel 5 serial opera Home and Away.

Tammin Sursok, who plays Dani, first gained fame for her role in the soap opera back in 1999. However, once her run on the program ended, she relocated to the USA and continued playing in a number of high-profile projects, including Pretty Little Liars.

Although the performer is used to on-screen drama, she also dealt with her own set of off-screen problems, including weight problems and a nightmare about bullying.

In light of this, we decided to dig into Tammin’s life away from the lens.

Pretty Little Liars fame

Tammin’s role as Jenna Marshall in the popular television series Pretty Little Liars from 2010 to 2017 propelled her to international stardom after her time on Home and Away.

She claims that some admirers in the street believe she is blind in real life because she played a blind role in this show, which she stated can be awkward.

She once said on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, “People think I’m actually blind in real life, which makes me feel like I’m a really good actress because, like, obviously I can see!”

Tammin has acknowledged, however, that she doesn’t frequently stay in touch with her co-stars following the end of the shoot after being questioned about it on Instagram.

Famous husband

Tammin has distinguished herself in addition to being wed to Sean McEwen, a well-known actor, director, and producer.

In 2011, the couple wed in a grandiose ceremony in Florence, Italy. Her spouse is renowned for creating the romance comedy Another Happy Day, the television series Aussie Girl, and the kidnapping drama Graceland.

Tammin has stated that when the couple got married, she was in the process of filming a movie titled Sleeping Around.

Tammin has also made reference to worries she had that she might have lost Sean when Covid struck because he was quite ill and ended up dropping roughly 7 kg as a result of his illness.

She revealed to Daily Mail Australia that witnessing her sick spouse was “one of the worst experiences [she’d] been through” and that she “didn’t know if he was going to pull through.”

“It was terrible. I think it was one of the worst things I’ve ever done. I wasn’t sure if he would survive,” she admitted.

Bullying nightmare

In recent years, Tammin has also opened up about the bullying she received when she was younger due to her weight.

In 2016, she posted a photo of herself as a youngster with her over a million followers and said: “When I was 13, I weighed about 90 kgs. I got bullied a lot and boys were horrible to me.

“They would throw rocks at my head and kids would laugh behind my back. All I wanted was to be an actress and musician and it was the only time I felt happy.

“A guy I had a crush on told me I would never amount to anything. I told him to watch this space.

“I promise you that you are worthy, you are enough and I want you to GET UP.”

The post was to highlight her #ThisIsBeautiful hashtag campaign which aimed to change the messaging and attitudes around beauty standards.
