Home And Away’s Jacqui Purvis Breaks Silence On Dramatic Exit: ‘Had To Take The Plunge’

Viewers of Home and Away were taken aback on Monday night when their beloved character Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis) suddenly passed out. With all the signs pointing to Felicity reconciling with her ex-husband Tane Parata (Ethan Browne) at Cash Newman’s (Nicholas Cartwright) and Eden Fowler’s (Stephanie Panozzo) engagement party, the episode caught fans off guard.

Felicity lost her vision and collapsed on the floor during one of their tearful conversations in the Salt restaurant. Future promos confirm that the Summer Bay resident won’t survive this medical emergency, despite her brother Cash’s rapid arrival to her side.

Although Jacqui Purvis said she had a great time working on the show, she felt that it was time for her to leave the soap opera, according to Yahoo Lifestyle.

I’ve had an amazing experience working on the show. a few of my greatest years ever. But I had to decide to go and take the risk because I knew I wanted an international career,” she says.

According to Yahoo Lifestyle, the actor aspires to move to Hollywood and follow in the footsteps of former cast members of Home and Away, including Chris Hemsworth, Isla Fisher, and Samara Weaving.

There was no shooting or visible weaponry during Felicity’s death, which made it less tragic than many fans had imagined. Despite having earlier stated that she desired a very “intense and gory” death, Jacqui’s fall to the ground was orderly and dramatic.

Online, fans have been busy guessing, with many suggesting that she may have had a brain aneurysm. One nurse even wrote: “I’m thinking brain aneurysm, subarachnoid hemorrhage.” Just a nurse’s opinion; I have no idea what [the writers] will think about.

Naturally, fans of Home and Away have been venting their disappointment on Facebook fan groups. Since it ends any potential plots in which Jacqui’s character could reappear, many people were disappointed to see her character murdered off.
