On Monday, Lynne McGranger posted a picture of herself recovering after surgery in a hospital bed, providing a startling update on her health.
The 71-year-old star of Home and Away disclosed that she had surgery this past week to remove her “toxic overactive thyroid,” which had been leaving her “exhausted” for a while.
She thanked the team at Mater Hospital North Sydney for all of their hard work and gave her followers the reassurance that she is “healing well” and happy to be free of her “dirty thyroid.”
‘Less than a week ago my toxic overactive thyroid and I parted ways,’ the soap star began in the message she penned beside her hospital selfie.Â
‘It was a long time coming. We were incompatible and quite frankly I was exhausted.
‘I want to thank all the amazing people at the Mater Hospital North Sydney for making this giant life step so much easier than it might have been.
‘The nurses, doctors, specialists, anaesthetists, the admin staff (the lady who greeted me on arrival, the lady who bid me farewell).
‘With special mention to Prof Sidhu, Dr Michael Morris, Annie, Anna, Karen and Kenny (sorry about the vom).’
Lynne went on to say she ‘could not recommend The Mater more highly’, saying the hospital is ‘an exceptional example of health care done right’.
She finished with: ‘I’m healing well and so far I don’t miss that dirty thyroid one bit! Stay tuned for scar spam.’
It’s the second time this month Lynne has stunned her followers with an image of herself lying in a hospital bed.
The actress caused concern a few weeks ago when she shared images of gory injuries, including stitches, on her face. Â
Thankfully, the wounds were all special effects makeup as the Home and Away veteran was busy working on set filming as her character Irene.
The slash to her forehead, which was stitched up, was provided by Home and Away makeup artist Hilary Middlebrook.
She captioned the photos, ‘Irene’s drunken fall,’ and Lynne was quick to reply in the comments with: ‘Very impressed Hils you clever girl. Miss you.’
