Home and Away have aired some incredible scenes over the years – but some of them have certainly come up pricey with expensive sets and stunts needed for certain episodes

Over the years, Summer Bay has witnessed some very spectacular incidents, including fires, collisions, and explosions, for fans of Home and Away.

The locals of the picturesque coastal location have witnessed a good number of horrifying instances involving life-threatening circumstances that frequently result in catastrophe.

The show’s producers have really gone all out to give their audience an incredible viewing experience since they are so committed to giving them a compelling story.

Actually, certain scenes have set records for expenses because they pull out all the stops and spend astounding sums of money to do so.

Bus crash drama

After the horrific bus accident that occurred back in 2014, when lives were in danger, viewers were traumatized.

A multi-vehicle catastrophe in the stunning season finale has devastating effects for some of the show’s most recognizable characters.

As Summer Bay locals crammed onto a minibus to head to the city to see Kyle Braxton’s girlfriend Phoebe perform, an accident occurred.

Two more interconnected narratives featuring Sophie and Nate, who start fighting in their car as they return to Summer Bay, unfolded while the party traveled.

Because Sophie thought Nate was bringing her to the hospital rather than running away with her as she had planned, she snapped and grabbed the wheel of the car, demonstrating her growing instability.

Her actions precipitated a collision that sent the bus veering, flipping, rolling, and finally coming to a stop in a spectacular spectacle.

The cast of the horror blockbuster included Ricky Sharpe, who was pregnant, Hannah Wilson, Denny Miller, Evie MacGuire, Sasha Bezmel, and Leah Patterson-Baker.

After seeing Hannah (Cassie Howarth) accept the possibility that he could never walk again after being impaled through her spine, viewers eventually found that the majority of the victims had only suffered minor injuries.

Watchers saw Leah’s family confronting a dismal future after learning she might not wake up, and Kyle was also put into a coma to help him heal from his horrific injuries.

Disastrous great storm

A massive four episodes were devoted to The Great Storm when Summer Bay was hit by a natural disaster.

Producer Cameron Welsh dubbed the elaborate plot, which ran from September 5 to 8, 2011, the “biggest stunt/disaster storyline” to ever appear in the soap opera. Bosses went all out for the dramatic run.

The actors of the popular show participated in a number of stunts over the course of an arduous 11-day filming schedule during the event, which took place during the 24th season.

Along with the many hours spent filming on set, special effects such as wind, rain, and green screen were used to produce the terrifying sequences. This resulted in the narrative becoming the most expensive to date.

One character will die, it was confirmed when the actors got to work advertising the big TV event, but the spoiler was carefully concealed to keep fans guessing until the death was shown.

The storyline saw several key characters involved in their own subplots as they battled to survive the storm, while the bulk of residents of Summer Bay took shelter at Summer Bay High’s evacuation centre.

Fans saw Romeo Smith (Luke Mitchell) attempting to save lives around the Bay, Harvey Ryan (Marcus Graham) and Roo Stewart (Georgie Parker) stranded at sea after their boat capsized,

Elsewhere pregnant Leah Patterson-Baker (Ada Nicodemou) nearly lost her baby and Colleen Smart (Lyn Collingwood), Bianca Scott (Lisa Gormley) and Heath Braxton (Dan Ewing) were trapped underneath a collapsed roof at Summer Bay High.

When the storm eventually passed viewers finally discovered that Tegan Callahan (Saskia Burmeister) had been tragically killed in a car crash.
