Kate Ritchie has come a long way after being cast in Home and Away at the tender age of nine – from hosting her own radio show to a judging gig on Australia’s Got Talent
Kate Ritchie played Sally Fletcher on Home and Away for nearly two decades, beginning when she was nine years old.
The child actress turned adult star was an original cast member who left the show in 2008 before returning for a special episode to commemorate Home and Away’s 25th anniversary in 2013.
Kate continued to act after leaving the program, and she participated in Underbelly, a criminal series based on the real-life marijuana trade in New South Wales.
She also began delivering the Breakfast Show on Australian radio station Nova FM.
Kate co-hosted the show with comic team Merrick and Rosso for over a year until abruptly resigning in November 2009.
Kate landed her first significant commercial agreement the same year when she agreed to do an ad campaign for Vaseline.
She briefly returned to acting in 2010, when she starred in the ultimately failed series Cops L.A.C, which was terminated after only one season.
She returned to hosting two years later, in 2012, when she narrated the Australian edition of Don’t Tell The Bride and returned to radio, this time fronting the Drive show on Nova FM.
Along with her radio work, Kate wrote a children’s book, I Just Couldn’t Wait To Meet You, which she published in 2016.
In 2021, the actress was revealed as one of the judges on Australia’s Got Talent, alongside comedian David Walliams, singer Alesha Dixon, and filmmaker Shane Jacobson.
She also just returned to television, starring in the crime series The Claremont Murders, which premiered in 2023.
When she’s not in the spotlight, Kate focuses on being a mother.
She met and began dating Rugby League player Stuart Webb in 2008, and the couple got engaged a year later following a whirlwind romance.
Stuart and Kate said “I do” in 2010 at Tasmania’s magnificent and historic Quamby Estate.
The couple welcomed their daughter Mae, now nine, in 2014, and the family of three appeared to be happy and settled for a time.
However, the relationship deteriorated, and Stuart was issued an Apprehended Violence Order in 2009 when police were summoned to their Sydney home for a domestic incident.
The orders are frequently issued to prevent “stalking,” “harassment,” and to require the defendant not to “assault or threaten” the victim.
However, the two appear to have reconciled and put the past behind them, as they were seen sending off Mae on her first day of school in 2020.
