Next week on Coronation Street, Dylan suffers a blow, Toyah looks for information on Rowan, Betsy lines up her next victims, Joel tries to reach Lauren before Dee-Dee and Bethany discover her.

1) Lauren goes back out on the street

Lauren (Cait Fitton), the missing girl, musters the strength to head back to the cobbles after last week’s shocking revelation that she is, in fact, alive and well.

Roy (David Neilson) had been beaten up by some thugs, who were still thinking he was responsible for Lauren’s disappearance. Roy had a heart attack and was taken to Weatherfield General.

As he recovered following surgery, he was visited by Lauren, who had slipped into the hospital unnoticed by all but her abuser Joel (Calum Lill).

Roy had been drifting in and out of consciousness at the time, and when he finally came around, he told niece Nina (Mollie Gallagher) that Lauren had been at his bedside.

Lauren tried to leave the hospital covertly, but Joel caught her in a side room after she revealed that she was five months pregnant with his child. Lauren had only spoken to a nurse, who had discovered her in Roy’s room.

Eventually, Lauren got away in a taxi, giving an enraged Joel the slip.

Naturally, Nina assumed Roy had been hallucinating, but the nurse who saw Lauren the next week verifies that Roy had been visited by a small blonde girl who claimed to be his niece.

Joel and Bethany (Lucy Fallon) are informed of the alarming news by Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown), who also adds that the police are currently reviewing the hospital’s security footage.

Roy is thrilled to hear that Lauren is still alive, but Nina is furious because Lauren disappeared for so long while Roy suffered and then reappeared.

But after Bethany notices that Lauren’s coat matches the one worn by the girl who was using her credit card—which she had stolen—Dee-Dee and Bethany are hot on her tail. Now that the two mysteries have combined into one, Platt and Bailey are investigating!

Joel has scheduled their wedding for Friday, September 27, and Dee-Dee is thrilled to hear this news, as she is blissfully unaware of his true character. After Joel apologizes to Dee-Dee and gets a text from Betsy (Sydney Martin) requesting more money, she leaves to go through credit card statements with Bethany.

When Dee-Dee finds out that certain purchases were made in Warrington for travel, they quickly head down the M62 to look at some soup kitchens. While conducting research, Dee-Dee and Bethany receive confirmation from a homeless woman (Franky Higgins) that a pregnant Lauren is camped out at a nearby abandoned bar.

Joel gets a call from Dee-Dee on the most recent development, and she worries about what Lauren could say if they find her. Unless he’s able to reach her before she does.

When Roy is finally discharged from the hospital, Nina is ecstatic and loves spoiling him at home. She recommends that in order for him to heal, he would enjoy spending some time with Cathy (Melanie Hill) in Scarborough.

Later in the week, Lauren emotionally visits Roy in the cafe and apologizes once more for everything she has caused him to go through.

Though Jack Carroll’s character Bobby is similarly happy to see his friend alive and well, he doesn’t anticipate Carla’s (Alison King) outrage when she arrives home and finds Lauren in her living room.

2) Carla retaliates

Having bumped upon the thugs who attacked Roy in the precinct once more, Carla is already a little too tense. Carla tries to talk things out with the group, but her attempts are ignored.

Carla sees one of the boys, George Malcher, riding up on his bike as she gets ready to depart in her car. He speeds by, and Carla, full of rage, opens the car door, sending him flying over the door and slamming onto the asphalt.

But as she speeds away, little does she realise that someone has seen everything…

3) Betsy arranges her next targets

After successfully using Joel as a pawn, Betsy quickly exploits Carla. Carla was rejected last week by Underworld for a summer job, then Betsy asks her if she would be open to reconsidering. since she might not be able to conceal what she seen at the precinct if she doesn’t.

To the dismay of her coworkers, Betsy manages to maintain her control over Carla throughout the week by getting away with doing little work and eating lunch early.

Carla decides it’s time to talk to Betsy’s mother Lisa (Vicky Myers), but before they can get very far, Betsy phones to tell her that she’s stuck in a dangerous area of town.

Later in the week, Betsy decides to follow Beth (Lisa George) after being captivated by her actions and spotting her admitting herself into the facility. She enters and discovers Beth sewing fake designer labels onto t-shirts by herself while it is dark.

Seeking another chance to get some cash, Betsy informs Beth that she must participate in the activity or else she will report her to Carla.

It’s clear that Betsy knows how to get what she wants, and has no qualms in straying onto the other side of the law to get it, despite being brought up by two female detectives.

Obviously she’s lost her other mum when she was on duty, so she already has some disrespect for the career,” Sydney Martin explained to EverySoap at a recent press event. “The fact that Lisa stayed on causes a bit of tension in their relationship.

However, there’s also the notion that if she gets into trouble, “Mummy can get me out of it.” It has a certain playful quality. She enjoys living precariously and believes that the law doesn’t apply to her. She is a little foolish.

4) Dylan receives a hit.

Next week, Dylan (Liam McCheyne) will experience highs and lows when he learns of a startling development.

The teenager has had a difficult few months as a result of his involvement with local bully Mason (Luca Toolan).

After Dylan first assisted Mason in frightening his friend Liam (Charlie Wrenshall), the judge was able to send Mason to prison because Dylan had defied Mason in court.

After three months, Dylan has found his footing again and is overjoyed when Stu (Bill Fellows) offers him a trial shift at Speed Daal.

However, both Dylan and his dad Sean (Antony Cotton) are horrified when Maria (Samia Longchambon) then reveals the news that Mason is being released from prison imminently.

Although Sean tries to reassure Dylan, he knows that he could well be a target if Mason decides to take revenge on the boy who got him locked up!

5) Toyah digs for dirt on Rowan

Elsewhere, Leanne (Jane Danson) continues trying to recruit Amy (Elle Mulvaney) into the Institute, after she previously agreed to attending a taster session. Amy has been struggling with the mounting pressure of work and the situation at home, and Leanne genuinely believes that the Institute will do her some good.

However, Rowan (Emrhys Cooper), the local group’s leader, has more important matters to attend to as he seeks to grow the Institute. Leanne is tempted by his suggestion that she put £40,000 into a new resource center, but she has to get Nick (Ben Price)’s approval first.

Naturally, Nick isn’t thrilled—that is, until Rowan shows him the picture he possesses that implicates Nick in kissing Leanne’s sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor). Rowan advises that he should invest in the company as, if he doesn’t, his little secret might be revealed.

While he is preoccupied with chatting to Nick, Toyah manages to take a picture of Rowan’s driver’s license. In the meantime, Toyah is still trying to figure out how to get rid of Rowan.

She searches the internet for a reverse picture of his photo. What will she discover, though?
