Fans of Coronation Street and Emmerdale will be disappointed to learn that they will both be momentarily withdrawn from ITV’s schedule this week.

There’s an upcoming England football match, so Emmerdale will be benched from the ITV lineup. More specifically, on Tuesday, September 10, there won’t be an Emmerdale episode on ITV1. This is because the channel is airing the men’s football team of England’s game against Finland.

The new shake-up comes during a pivotal time for Emmerdale, with Tom King and Belle Dingle’s tumultuous marriage taking even more shocking twists, reports Leeds Live.

On Wednesday, September 13, the National Television Awards’s will be broadcast live from London’s O2 Arena with stars within the industry will be gracing the red carpet and taking to the stage to celebrate their accolades, meaning that Corrie will not air that night.

The Masked Singer UK presenter Joel Dommett will host the star-studded awards ceremony which celebrates the Best of British TV. Fans will witness actors taking their seats in the auditorium as the show begins at 8pm and it will carry on until at least 10:35pm.

This means that Coronation Street viewers will miss out on making room for the live programme.

However, an episode of Emmerdale will air on Wednesday right before the 2024 NTA’s. At the highly-anticipated ceremony, huge shows will go head to head in a battle for the public vote.

For over a decade, This Morning won an award for Best Daytime/Live Magazine Show but it all came to an awkward end following the presenters quitting their roles.

Emmerdale will appear to air a soap first next week

For 12 years running, from 2011 to 2022 former hosts like Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby scooped the trophy. However, the show lost in the nominations in 2023 to The Repair Shop which left fans shocked.

This year, the likes of Ben Shephard and Cat Deely will go head to with the likes of Loose Women for the daytime TV crown.
