Coronation Street star Jane Danson has been a part of the cobbles for 25 years as Leanne Battersby but her off-screen life is a far cry from the drama her character endures

Coronation Street star Jane Danson, the actress best known as Leanne Battersby, is indeed no novice when it comes to TV drama, having been married to a fellow actor familiar with the soap opera world.

Corrie‘s favourite Leanne Battersby has unwittingly become embroiled in the machinations of The Institute, dubbed a “self-improvement group”.

Unbeknownst to her, this involvement has inadvertently pushed Nick Tilsley (portrayed by Ben Price) and Toyah Battersby (played by Georgia Taylor) into each other’s arms, though how long until Leanne uncovers their secret tryst remains to be seen.

Away from the chaos of Weatherfield, Jane Danson leads a blissfully serene marital life with actor husband Robert Beck, far removed from Leanne’s tumultuous on-screen existence.

Beck rose to popularity as Peter Harrison in Brookside before joining Emmerdale in 1999 as Bernice Blackstock’s former flame, Gavin Ferris.

The couple’s romance blossomed after meeting at the inaugural British Soap Awards the same year.

They sealed their love with a winter wedding in December 2005 at Gibbon Bridge Hotel in Lancashire, with their family later growing to include two boys, Harry and Sam.

In a heartwarming reflection on her relationship, Danson praised her partnership with Beck: “Rob’s absolutely my best friend in the world. We’ve only had about two rows in 20 years.”

“I’m not saying we don’t get on each other’s nerves sometimes, but we’re a strong team and we’ve always allowed each other to be individuals.”

Robert, 55, stirred up the Emmerdale scene with a dramatic entrance last year as Chloe Harris’ (Jessie Elland) father Damon.

His versatile acting chops were previously showcased in Coronation Street as the felonious Jimmy Dockerson and Fergus Collins in Hollyoaks in November 2021.

Robert’s recent role includes portraying Len Reid in ITV’s The Bay and Marty Owens in the gritty drama Hotel Cocaine.
