This week, when will Emmerdale air? The soap opera is experiencing yet another scheduling change to accommodate football coverage.

Over the past few weeks, viewers have been anticipating the soap opera schedule as ITV and BBC give way to coverage of The UEFA European Football Championship 2024. And now that Wimbledon has begun, the schedule is probably going to get even more hectic as broadcasters try to accommodate coverage of the tennis tournament.

ITV executives have been making sure that fans of Emmerdale and Coronation Street are aware of schedule modifications by posting new weekly schedules on their official social media pages. Frequently, the soap operas jointly announce the changes.

Fans can typically anticipate a double bill of their favorite soap later in the week if episodes are rescheduled, or pushed back to a slightly later time if they are removed from the schedule. But during the first week of July, viewers were not impressed as Coronation Street was sometimes rescheduled until as late as 9 p.m. and Emmerdale was completely canceled on Tuesday, July 2.

Emmerdale and Coronation Street posted a joint statement on Instagram and X, the former name of Twitter, saying, “Heads-up, here’s where to find your Soaps fix this week.” The schedule then stated that ITV would be airing Romania vs. Netherlands and Austria vs. Turkiye on Tuesday, with no Emmerdale.

Many fans expressed their opinions in the comment section. Some questioned why the soap operas needed to be affected at all, while others felt that Coronation Street’s 9 p.m. start time was too late.

When @gffcontwitch retorted, “There are other channels they could put football on!!,” @GenkinsRoger asked, “What?” Tuesday is not Emmerdale day. F**K.

In the words of the_wild_huskies_: “This is 2024. There ought to be enough channels available these days for both football and soap operas.”

@AscotAnna suggested that Corrie air earlier, posing the question, “Why can’t it go on before Bradley and Barney??” As @megster1986 noted: “I’ll be going to bed at nine.”

@RossGKiernan_ also said, “It clashes with Love Island,” to which frosty1977 echoed, adding, “I guess I’ll have to watch on catch-up.”
