It’s unbelievable that people are genuinely texting her.
Jessica Redmayne, who plays Harper on Channel Seven’s Home and Away, has made a sincere appeal on Instagram to the show’s followers.
Redmayne, who has been playing Harper since 2023, requested that fans refrain from contacting her with the plot of her character.
The actress made this request since it seemed like some fans were taking the on-screen drama of her role a little too seriously.
Harper is now carrying Tane’s child on the show. Tane, played by Ethan Browne, is still in mourning for his late wife Felicity Newman, therefore he is oblivious of the pregnancy.
Fans, especially those who were emotionally immersed in Tane and Felicity’s romance, are divided about the plot.
Some viewers are upset by Harper’s involvement with Tane, feeling it undermines the long-standing hope for a Tane-Felicity reunion.
Redmayne urged her fans via Instagram to remember that her role is just a role and to separate their views on her character from their interactions with her in real life.
“Please don’t message me telling me to stay away from Tane or how much you hate Harper,” she said on her Instagram stories.
“My name is Jess and I’m an actor. My job is acting, not writing.
“I shared that promo because I’m proud of my work.”
Her post was later shared on one of the top Home and Away fan Facebook group pages.
“It’s ridiculous that Jessica has to remind people that she is an actress doing a job, I can’t believe people are actually messaging her,” one fan said.
“So ridiculous that people can’t separate an actor from the character they portray,” a second said.
“Some people seriously need to get a life … it’s a TV show,” another added.
