This week on Coronation Street, as Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) and Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) search for Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), a nervous Joel Deering (Calum Lill) realizes his secret is about to be revealed.
Last week, Lauren’s location was verified. It was also revealed in an episode that gave us more insight into Lauren’s poisonous connection with Joel that she is expecting his child.
It was revealed to us that Joel had been deceiving Lauren from their initial encounter in September of last year. Joel would give Lauren money for groceries and energy for months, but he would also demand sex in exchange.
Just before Lauren vanished in February of this year, she made a threat to report Joel to the authorities. Joel spun around as soon as Dee-Dee’s name was spoken during the brawl and attacked Lauren with a chair leg.
Lauren went to the hospital following Roy’s (David Neilson) heart attack last week to apologize for not stepping out and clearing his reputation sooner.
In later episodes, the nurse will reveal that Roy’s guest was a young, blonde woman, shocking Dee-Dee and Nina (Mollie Gallagher). Later, Dee-Dee, unaware of what is happening, tells Bethany and Joel that the police are looking through CCTV in case Lauren was involved.
The following week, Joel informs Dee-Dee that he has scheduled their wedding for September 27. Joel then leaves with Bethany to search through credit card statements in the hopes of discovering information on Lauren’s whereabouts.
Joel then leaves, informing Dee-Dee that he’s heading to work, after receiving a text from Betsy (Sydney Martin) requesting more money.
After looking over the statements some more, Dee-Dee discovers ticket transactions in Warrington and chooses to investigate soup kitchens. There, a woman experiencing homelessness verifies that Lauren is squatting at a nearby bar.
Joel and Betsy may be seen conversing in the car in this new video. The little girl is told to remain silent when he gets a call from Dee-Dee.
Joel’s concern escalates as Dee-Dee confirms that she and Bethany are going to the tavern that Lauren has been squatting in, while she also provides an update and discloses that Lauren appears to be pregnant.
Will Joel arrive at the pub before his secret is revealed, despite Dee-Dee’s confidence that she must make it there before Lauren disappears once more?
He can be heard yelling at Betsy just before the video ends, compelling her to exit the vehicle. He takes out quickly, leaving Betsy alone herself in an unidentified area of the city.
Joel will therefore be more hazardous than ever because Lauren is back in Weatherfield and a loose cannon, as the Calum recently explained in our exclusive video discussion.
He thought, “One thing we know for sure from this is that he is very selfish.” He prioritizes his own self-interest over all other considerations and lacks the empathy that ordinary people seem to possess.
Therefore, I believe we haven’t seen the worst of him yet when you combine them all. And who can predict where that will end up?
