Actress Kimberley Cooper shot to fame as bad girl Gypsy Nash in hit Australian soap Home and Away, but she now lives a very different life away from the spotlight
Acting is now far behind Kimberley Cooper, who was arguably Australia’s hottest soap star.
In the early 2000s, she portrayed Gypsy Nash in the film Home and Away. The actress’s role in the soap opera catapulted her to popularity, but she now lives a very different life off the show. Now forty-three, Kimberley moved to Los Angeles from Australia and has had a variety of jobs.
Kimberley has written plays, TV shows, and movies in recent years. She portrayed Jessica Hunter in the lead role of the 2015 thriller Natural Injustice, which is her last known film credit. Kimberley’s most recent employment is thought to have had her working as a bartender in Hollywood.
Outside of the workplace, Kimberley recently announced her engagement to American businessman Bryan Crocker, who runs a distribution company for movies and television shows. Last month, she showed off her enormous ruby ring and shared the wonderful news with her Instagram fans.
Gulping, Kimberley said, “We went on our first date on 2.2 in his kitchen, where we had dumplings from his favorite Thai restaurant, drunken noodles, and bacon-wrapped prawns. On the 22nd, he proposed to me over our favorite Thai dish from our first date, which took place in our kitchen—which is now actually my kitchen—where we fell in love. My darling xxx, you are the epitome of “worth the wait.”
In an interview with New Idea magazine, Kimberley said that she and Bryan, 42, decided on the ring, saying, “I love that it’s dramatic and kind of rock ‘n’ roll.” Bryan and Kimberley got romantically involved after Kimberley’s 2010 marriage to Nic Sacci ended. From 1990 to 2002, she played Bad Girl Gypsy in the television series Home and Away. She had a brief comeback in 2011.
For her role in the soap opera, she was awarded a 1999 Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent on Australian television. Since then, Kimberley has thought back on her time spent in the show. She stated to The Courier-Mail, “I never cringe when I look at Home and Away. It’s unabashedly excellent television for the era it was produced in.”
After leaving Home and Away, the actress entered the world of reality TV. After competing on the 2002 Australian season of Celebrity Big Brother, she made the decision to move to New York City. Eventually, Kimberley relocated to Los Angeles, where she continued to pursue her career as an actress, writer, and voice actor.
She honored her Home and Away co-star Ben Unwin in 2019. Soon after the news of his passing spread, Kimberley posted on Instagram, saying: “My first TV week cover was with you.” Years of laughter filled our lives, whether it was belly laughs at the bars after work or giggles on the set while attempting to act out scenes as lovers. You forever hold a special place in my heart. Love you Onion.”
