Fans can find all the most recent information about their favorite daytime dramas and soap opera stars on the internet, but they should be cautious not to believe everything they read because there is a lot of false information floating around. On October 2, Laura Wright (Carly), a star of GENERAL HOSPITAL, used social media to dispel a rumor that she was quitting the soap opera.

The actress posted on X to reassure her devoted fans that the rumor was untrue, even though she didn’t identify the source of it. Wright remarked, “I don’t know how these crazy rumors get started, but heck no, I’m not going anywhere. I’ll remain as long as you two do.

When Wright joined the cast of LOVING in 1991 as Ally Rescott, she made her daytime television debut. In 1995, she brought the character to the spinoff THE CITY. She switched over to CBS in 1997, where she created the role of Cassie Layne on GUIDING LIGHT. She stayed in that role until 2005, when she switched to GH to play Carly Corinthos.

Wright has worked in daytime for three decades and has been nominated for seven Daytime Emmy Awards in the Lead Actress category. She won the award in 2011 for her work on GH.

There are still plenty of juicy storylines for Wright’s alter ego to play, with Carly’s relationship with Drew only recently beginning (it stalled when he was sent to prison) and the upcoming revelation of Nina’s role in turning them in to the SEC for insider trading. Fans can relax knowing that the actress will keep giving Carly on GH award-winning performances for a very long time to come!
