The actress, who portrays Evelyn Plummer, made the announcement while defending her participation in the storied drama and calling her co-stars “amazing.”

She remarked, “I won’t hear a word against it.” There are many highly talented performers working with minimal preparation and guidance.

“Do I have any envy for some of my peers?” Occasionally, yeah. Do I have permission to be here? Obviously not. She asked Readers Digest if she would like to be involved in sex education. “Of course, yes.” Do I regret committing to Corrie for a more year? I’m not, no. In 2018, Maureen, at 76, captured the hearts of Corrie viewers when she made her debut as Evelyn Plummer, Tyrone Dobbs’ long-lost grandmother.

She had already performed on the streets of Weatherfield in 2002, playing interim landlady Lilian Spencer for the Rovers Return.

Over the years, the celebrity has also made appearances in a number of TV shows, including Doctor Who, Casualty, and Holby City. Since making her cobbles debut, Evelyn has been at the center of numerous stories, including a romance with an old friend named Arthur and becoming caught in the middle of Tyrone and Fiz Stape’s (Jennie McAlpine) breakup.

She recently had a confrontation with Phill Whittaker’s (Jamie Kenna) mother Mimi, who temporarily moved in before Phill and Fiz’s wedding.
