Rena Sofer hasn’t played Lois Cerullo on General Hospital for more than 25 years, but that long absence is about to come to an end as Sofer is scheduled to make her comeback in October.
More Rena Sofer And Lois For Eddie Maine
When Sofer first appeared on General Hospital, she quickly hired a singer named Eddie Maine (Wally Kurth) who was performing in a bar in Upstate New York. When Lois discovered that Eddie was actually Ned Ashton (now Quartermaine) and married to Katherine Bell (Mary Beth Evans), their marriage to Eddie went horribly wrong. Eventually, Lois gave birth to Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) before she and Ned got divorced, and they wed in a lavish on-location ceremony in Brooklyn, New York.
After more than 20 years, Ned no longer recognizes himself as Ned and believes that he is actually Eddie Maine. Fans have conjectured and hoped that Sofer would make a comeback for this story ever since Ned woke up as “Neddie,” as Lois appears to be the missing piece.
In fact, when Sofer left The Bold and the Beautiful after ten years as Quinn Fuller, rumors of Sofer and Lois’ return started to circulate earlier this year. Even Sofer admitted in an interview that she would be open to a GH comeback.
There is currently no information available regarding the length of Sofer’s stay on General Hospital, so only time will tell whether Lois simply visits her ex-husband and daughter to wrap up the Eddie Maine story or if this return will be permanent, according to PEOPLE, who first reported the news. In either case, Lois is certain to upend Port Charles once more and challenge Olivia, Ned’s current wife (Lisa LoCicero).
