There are spoilers in this article for tonight’s episode of EastEnders, which you can view on BBC iPlayer right now even though it hasn’t yet shown on television.

In recent EastEnders scenes, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) was eventually freed from prison and she is returning to Albert Square with a big secret.

For contempt of court, Sharon was sentenced to prison after becoming enraged with the judge during Dean Wicks’ trial.

While inside, Sharon ran into arch nemesis Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman), who revealed that she had previously shared a cell with none other than Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton).

Not only that, but Ruby had been pregnant and was moved to a mother and baby wing when she gave birth.

Before being sent to prison, Ruby told Martin Fowler (James Bye) that she was pregnant with his baby, but he refused to believe her after uncovering countless lies she had already told him.

It didn’t take long for Sharon to realise that the baby must have been Martin’s, and when she returned to Albert Square she was quick to ask Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) for advice.

Sharon revealed her concerns that Ruby would only bring trouble into Martin’s life, but Phil insisted that keeping secrets would be worse in the long run.

However, when Sharon attempted to reveal all to Martin, she got second thoughts as he opened up about how much he was struggling with Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) being in prison.

When Martin said that one more thing would be enough to send him over the edge, Sharon decided to keep the truth about Ruby and the baby to herself – but will she come to regret it?

It was recently announced that actress Louisa Lytton would be reprising her role as Ruby ahead of the BBC soap’s 40th anniversary, so could she be set to reveal the truth to Martin herself?
