Fans have been wondering what Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt was really after ever since he emerged from the woods, and the answer isn’t any clearer now than it was then. The praise Roger Howarth, who plays Austin, has received is undeniable, and he has much to be happy about.

Happy Birthday, Roger Howarth

And the reason for that is that this talented and beloved actor, who was born on September 13, 1968, is turning 55 today! Howarth made his stage debut when he was just 7 years old, and he kept up his passion for performing throughout high school. He initially resisted acting as a career though. However, Howarth left the George Washington University’s political science program after just one semester and enrolled instead in the Eugene O’Neil Theatre Center in Connecticut’s rigorous acting program.

He then got a job on the CBS daytime drama Guiding Light. He later participated in a national talent search and was selected for a part on the ABC network’s rival soap opera Loving.

Howarth’s performance as Kent Winslow helped him land the role of Todd Manning on One Life to Live. Howarth joined the soap opera in 1992 as a day player but eventually signed a full-time contract, appearing there from 1992 to 2003.

Howarth portrayed the enduring character Paul Ryan on As the World Turns from 2003 to 2010. He then went back to One Life to Live and played Todd Manning again.

Howarth was recruited to play Todd on General Hospital, OLTL’s sister show, after it was cancelled. After a year, a lawsuit compelled Howarth to briefly leave the show before making a comeback as Franco Baldwin. After Franco was tragically murdered, Howarth unexpectedly reappeared in Austin a few months later. Howarth is well-known for his work on television series like Diagnosis: Murder, Dawson’s Creek, Prey, and The Flash, as well as motion pictures like Dream of Live and Destruction Los Angeles, aside from daytime dramas. Since 1992, the dashing actor has been wed to actress Cari Stahler. Julian, a son born in July 1992, and Langston, a daughter born in April 1993, are the couple’s only children.

Happy birthday to Roger Howarth and many more, from all of us at Soap Hub.
