Stephen Reid, the serial murderer from Coronation Street, will be caught later this year after killing three people since moving to Weatherfield.

Fans of Coronation Street assert that they have devised a plan to allow Todd Boyce’s character Stephen Reid to continue appearing in the serial and reside in Weatherfield for “years to come.”

Recent spoiler images showed that Teddy Thompkins’ (Grant Burgin) body was recovered in his mother’s roof box, which he had stolen, in the canal.

Later pictures showed Stephen getting out of a taxi at an airport, appearing to be leaving the nation because he was worried about being apprehended for his crimes.

Carla Connor (Alison King), Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), Elaine Jones (Paul Wilcox), and Carla Connor have all developed doubts about Stephen and his activities on the cobbles.

Many viewers were preparing for his final murder and his demise, but some have discovered a cunning ploy that may guarantee the serial killer will continue.

One Reddit user offered the following theory: “Frame Paul for the killings since we know he is going, fabricate Paul’s confessions, we know he took Rufus’s car so they already know he was there. Stephen may then remain, similar to murders Tracy and Gary.

A different admirer echoed the same and asked, “It is a fair point Tracy and Gary have been allowed to stay long term despite killing multiple people so why not Uncle Stephen.” (sic)

Many fans want Stephen to stay, with some saying that his character and plot are the only things that keep them watching the show.

I would want for him to be a constant fixture, one person wrote. I primarily crave Coronation Street because of him.

He’s one of the key reasons I watch, a second said. Would would like him to remain. (sic)

One Redditor expressed their desire for Stephen to leave in a “blaze of glory” and stated: “I don’t see anyone else on the horizon in terms of who could be killed, we’re not that far ahead so they could surprise me at any point.

“I wanted to be the one who has been killed the most, so I tried to get the grandstands on television. But in a way, I believe he killed by accident. It was really planned for the first time he killed Leo to be more of a struggle over the phone before he walked over.

But I made the decision, ‘Let’s let Stephen have a bit more to do with that.’ There is no apparent end in sight, but I think someone will catch him.

“I personally don’t want him to vanish and come back; I want him to leave in a blaze of glory. Because I believe the audience is going crazy, I want something limited. (sic)
