The Y&R recap for Thursday, June 22, 2023, brings Traci begging her siblings to stop fighting…for John Abbott’s sake.

Traci Abbott asks her family to stop arguing in the recap of The Young and the Restless.

Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

When Traci informs her agent Zelda that she wants to leave her home, Zelda understands that Traci needs a change. Kyle (Michael Mealor) requests some space from Summer. Billy and Ashley fight at Jabot. Traci organizes a family gathering while Jack works on Diane’s biography. Let’s now delve deeper into what occurred in this special episode dedicated to John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) and his legacy.

Young and the Restless: Traci Abbott Wants To Escape

Traci (Beth Maitland) discussed a potential book tour and stopping in smaller towns with her agent, Zelda Winston (Kym Douglas). The concept pleased Zelda. Traci believed that options to escape her predicament in Genoa City might be found in college towns. Zelda pressed Traci for additional information out of curiosity, which made Traci giggle and inform her agent that she thought her family was disintegrating.

Zelda was surprised to learn this information because she had assumed Traci’s family was close-knit, particularly with her father. Zelda predicted potential conflicts and thought they would involve Ashley and Jack. Zelda’s suspicion was correct, and Traci exclaimed, “Bingo!”

Zelda claimed to be familiar with Talia Morgan’s (Natalie Morales) writings and to be aware of both Diane (Susan Walters) and Tucker (Trevor St. John). She was curious about their role in the incident. Traci revealed that they all thought the other person was a fool and that Ashley was supposedly planning a takeover at Jabot. It sounded like a nightmare, in Zelda’s opinion. Curiously, Zelda questioned whether Traci could turn it into a book.

Traci revealed that Jack and Ashley experienced comparable circumstances at Jabot with their partners. For the sake of John’s legacy, she had to make things right. Traci remembered the touching moment when she begged John to let her stay at home in Genoa City and how content he was to have all of his kids together. Traci remembered their embrace while sobbing and termed John “super neat.” Zelda dried Traci’s tears and urged her to maintain her composure.

Young and the Restless Recap: Abbott Fighting

Kyle was getting ready for work when Summer (Allison Lanier) arrived at the Abbott mansion. She made an effort to speak with him by telling him a tale about a hamster at Harrison’s camp. She invited Kyle to eat breakfast with her even though he didn’t seem interested. But he declined, saying that he had to hurry to the workplace and wasn’t hungry. Summer asked him to speak and offered an apology.

Kyle claimed that his mother had pardoned Summer but he was at a loss for words. When Summer’s mother approached her, she acknowledged feeling both frightened and perplexed. Kyle begged Summer for the same courtesy, noting that he had given her space when she needed it. She consented to provide for his needs.

As Kyle left, Diane (Susan Walters) entered. She was devastated by the problems in Summer and Kyle’s marriage. Summer feared she had misplaced Kyle. But she was reluctant to bring up this subject with Diane. Diane promised her daughter-in-law that she would not judge her, nevertheless. Diane expressed sympathy for Summer and related her own experience of being let down by a close friend. She talked about her relationship with Jack in the past and reassured Summer that she, too, would get through this trying time. Kyle would like to speak with Diane. Summer thanked her for the offer and left after expressing her belief that the family needed more affection.

Jack (Peter Bergman) and Emily (Toni Robison-May) discussed a newsletter and a coworker’s retirement at Crimson Lights. Jack agreed when she suggested setting up a photo session for Diane. They decided to mention their engagement after she read him Diane’s biography.

Ashley (Eileen Davidson), who was concerned that Diane would endanger Jabot, went to Billy’s (Jason Thompson) workplace. Billy reassured her that they had talked about it and that the board has safeguards in place to guard against harm.

Ashley naturally brought up Gloria, but Billy countered that Diane was different from Gloria and wouldn’t interfere with the product. Ashley claimed to have Abby’s support and thought Diane was worse, and she also thought Traci may side with them. Billy mockingly remarked on the powerful alliance she was forging and advised her to change her mind. He was accused of being Jack’s kiss-ass by Ashley.

In a heated exchange, Ashley referred to Billy as a chauvinist. Billy sided with Team Jack immediately as Jack entered the room after their disagreement about Tucker. Jack agreed with their sister that allowing Tucker into her life was a mistake.

With regard to Billy’s track record of making terrible decisions, Ashley advised him to go for a stroll. She brought up the time he lost the company Jaboat in a poker game and she brought up the time he passed out intoxicated and nearly died as a teenager. Billy became upset, and Jack claimed that Ashley’s animosity had clouded her judgment and prevented her from thinking clearly.

Ashley thought Jack would regret making her feel insignificant. Traci sent a text message to each of the siblings asking them to attend a family meeting with “no excuses.” Jack was frightened that Harrison may be involved, so they hastily returned home.

Y&R Recap: Traci Abbott Asks Her Family To Honor John

Zelda mentioned her eagerness to meet Diane when Traci and she arrived at the Abbott residence because she thought the encounter may make a good narrative for a book. Diane sarcastically hoping that people would get sick of her. When Summer came back, she met Traci’s agent. Billy and Ashley followed Jack in their arrival. Everyone recognized Zelda after Traci gave them the reassurance that everything was alright and they had previously met her in New York City.

When Kyle arrived, Zelda gave a self-excuse. The family was gathered, and Traci explained how their ongoing disagreement was causing them to become estranged. She observed how their house had turned into a battlefield and speculated about their father’s perspective if he were there.

While Jack felt John would be outraged that she had taken Tucker back, Ashley assumed he would be horrified by Jack’s engagement with Diane. Traci reminded them of their father’s fairness and his faith in atonement.

Jack thought back to a time when John had shown his faith in him despite being unsure of a business arrangement. He observed that John’s voice was always with him. As long as Diane was present, Ashley said she couldn’t talk about their father or her love. Diane didn’t want them to pick a side, even though she admired Traci’s efforts to help them resolve their differences. She and Summer went outside the home, letting the family talk.

Traci asked everyone to discuss their ideas for putting their animosity behind them and coming back together as a family after they left. Kyle acknowledged that he and Summer had their own problems that took priority and asked his dad and aunt to turn down the music. Kyle resisted Traci’s urgings to forgive Summer since he wasn’t ready.

Traci and Kyle departed. Billy declared his love for Jack and Ashley. He just cared about his siblings’ happiness. Billy wanted to continue respecting Jack and Ashley despite the fact that he was on the outside looking in. When Jack asked Ashley if they could move past it after he left, she wasn’t certain.

Traci bid Zelda farewell at the GCAC and thanked her for persuading her to try with her family. Traci examined her father’s pictures. Jack, Ashley, and Traci recalled fond memories of giving and receiving hugs from John Abbott.
