It was about four months ago when Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden announced that he was dealing with bladder cancer. Now the beloved star has a health update he wants his supporters to know about.
Eric Braeden Has Great News
On Sunday night, the actor shared the update via a Facebook Live video. “I want to say that I appreciate all of your prayers and kind thoughts…and I can attest that it undoubtedly helped because my most recent cystoscopy was two days ago. I was declared cancer-free at the point when a camera was threaded into your bladder. They were unable to locate anything. Oh, that’s nice. So please accept my gratitude for all your kind words. Your prayers were all very much appreciated by me.
Braeden has some sobering comments for people who might be assuming that everything is now behind him. “However, this does not mean that all is done. I still have to receive three preventative infusions, roughly. Therefore, the BCG [Bacillus Calmette-Guerin] treatment is what it is known as. They inject something into your bladder, but as of three days ago, I’m cancer-free.
Braeden also expressed his appreciation for his doctor. The initial surgeon did a fantastic job eliminating all the cancer, but I need treatment because the malignancy he removed had some high-grade cancer cells. He also mentioned that he still has a challenge to overcome.
“On Saturday, I underwent an MRI of the entire region, the kidneys, and the entire low area to check for the spread of anything. If the results are negative, we will proceed with the three BCG treatments, which will be administered over the course of three weeks. After that, I should be free of symptoms for a time, and I will occasionally, such as once every few months or so, undergo another cystoscopy.
I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been cancer-free as of a few days ago, which of course makes me extremely happy. I feel extremely sure that I am in excellent hands with competent professionals. Soap Hub is still sending Eric Braeden its best wishes.
